Greetings Bev:
Please see the message I posted on these boards yesterday. The second paragraph in that message deals with your Christy families. The second Andrew Christy, Sr. that I referred to is your Andrew Christy born in Kilmany, Fife, Scotland, on 16 October 1737. He died in Iredell County, North Carolina sometime before the 1790 Census. In that Census his wife was identified as a Widow.
His wife's name was Elspeth "Elizabeth" Melvill. She was born in Cupar, Fife, Scotland on 10 April 1734 and she died about 1791 in Iredell County. Andrew and his wife were married on 6 April 1759 in Cupar. Fife, Scotland. They had ten children. Your Andrew and your Joseph were two of their children.
Your friend, Jim
Please have a great day with your best friend - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Greetings Jeff:
If your John Christy was born in 1772 and died in 1884, that would make him 112 years old when he died! Is that what your records show? The food must have been better in Ohio than in Ireland or Pennsylvania where his parents and grandparents landed when they came to America.
Do you have any information about your John? He may be the John Christy born on 13 Dec 1774 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. If your John and mine are the same person, he would be a son of James Murphy Christy, who was the son of Andrew Christy, Sr. who migrated from Northern Ireland to Pennsylvania and later to Kinsman, Ohio. He brought his three children with him; they were, John born in 1774, Ann born in 1748, and James born on 19 Jan 1752.
This group should not be confused with another Andrew Christy, Sr. family that migrated from Kilmany, Fife, Inverness, Scotland about ten years later. That group landed in North Carolina. To my knowledge none of them migrated to Pennsylvania.
Your friend, Jim
Please have a great day with your best friend - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

And to add to the confusion... There is another Andrew Christy senior and Jr
who show up first in Kentucky then to Hamilton County, Ohio, and then to
Lawrence county, Illinois. Their children are also John, James, Andrew Jr
and Ann, and they also had Sarah, Harriet, Joseph, William, and Mary. The
father was born on 1768 and the children between 1792-1812. This family was
also Irish
