Well, yes, Lula's parents were Hiram Fredrick Christy and Georgianna/Georgia/George Pritchett/Pritchard or however else it was spelled. I haven't researched Georgianna's family since she isn't my direct line. But HF and she had a house full of children after my gggma, Margaret Malissa/Melissa Prince Christy died in 1880. They only had the two sons living, by then, by what I've found. BTW, I am aka hawkdream and stormdancer181. Have been on this site for a couple of decades, but don't post much anymore.
I have a list of some of the sibs of Lula's, if you want them. One of Aunt Nora's daughters-in-law is probably lurking, too, if she's still on. That's one that went to CA.

Yes, your Lula was the younger half-sister of my great grandfather, Samuel Winfield Christy. One or more descendants of their eldest brother are living in Trumann (Poinsett Co?) AR and some are living around Des Moines, IA. William (the eldest brother) and Samuel had a different mother than your Lula, but the same father. Some descendants of another sister of theirs were living in CA many years ago and I don't know where else, since the family didn't keep in touch.

Dear Jim,
Nice to hear of your extensive Christy (Chrisie) Database. My brick wall goes to Nathan Christy, records show him living in Montgomery, and Herkimer counties in New York in the late 1700's and early 1800's, My GGG Grandfater Daniel Christy was born in Stone Arabia New York 24 Jan 1791. His mother was Margaretha Sutz. I just can't seem to find anything on Nathans family. Nathan was elected to the NY State legislature in 1810 and 1812. Would be great if he fit into your data base somewhere. Thanks

Jim wrote "If any of your Christy ancestors have any of the foregoing data attached to their surnames, please let me know. I have extensive information on the Christies born in the early late 1600s and the 1700s in Scotland and Northern Ireland."
A Christy descendant in my line married a Burch: Elizabeth CHRISTY, b. 1817 Indiana, USA, married George BURCH, b. 1815, North Carolina, USA, in 1834, Indiana, USA. This couple, of whom I have a photograph, had a large well-document
family. Elizabeth Christy was a daughter of John CHRISTY, b. 1795, North Carolina, USA. Information I have seen identifies John as son and grandson of Andrew CHRISTYs, the younger born in North Carolina, 1755, and the elder born in
Scotland, 1737. I am looking for more information and confirmation and on the Scottish connection. Roberta

There was no tone in either of my posts other than trying to help you.
Mistakes like the examples you have provided are very common in family research. Most of us have difficulty determining exact dates and spelling of names. All we can do is collect census data; birth, marriage and death certificates; church records; obituaries; MIs; and other documentation to try to establish accurate dates of events. Unfortunately, it's not always possible to determine exact dates or spellings, so we work backward from ourselves, gathering evidence as we go, and then we must arrive at a "soundly reasoned, coherently written conclusion."
You might consider allowing fellow posters to be able to contact you privately. Not everyone is comfortable posting on the boards and denying access may mean losing valuable information.
Good luck!

Greetings Beth:
The surname Christy may not mean anything to anyone. Most Christy researchers would likely appreciate the first name and middle name of your Christy ancestors. Also locations,(birth, marriage, deaths,) would be helpful. Locations should include the city, county, state, and country. The final information needed would be dates = the day of the month, the month and the year of any event in the lives of your Christy lines.
If any of your Christy ancestors have any of the foregoing data attached to their surnames, please let me know. I have extensive information on the Christies born in the early late 1600s and the 1700s in Scotland and Northern Ireland, down to the present time.
One of those Christies is a direct-line ancestor of mine; this would be a woman born in 1810 in the Missouri Territory, United States. Another is a Christy ancestor born in 1685 in Kilmany, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom. From that ancestor down to my own family, there are several thousand Christy (Christie) names in my database.
Your friend, Jim

I found the tone of your last posting a little better. Thank you. But I would think my grandfather would know if his father's first name was Joseph or Harrold, that's a huge difference and makes researching a lot more difficult. It has not mattered if it's Howard, Joseph, Harrold, Sarah, Ackerman or Eckerman of Paris France?...I cannot find any relevant information with these places dates or names. I'm hoping someone can suggest another resource I could tap into or use this to network, maybe someone will find something I missed.
I'm also hoping these names aren't fake and I'm wasting my time, which very well could be. He disowned his family...

Just because the documents were completed by your grandfather doesn't mean he couldn't have made a mistake.
For instance, "Harrold" is a rather uncommon spelling. Most of us would spell it "Harold." If Howard/Harold was your great grandfather's middle name and he didn't use it, it is not that strange that it could have been misspelled by his son. My own father used a variant spelling of his last name on his Social Security application. I checked and it is his handwriting and I've never seen that surname variation in any other record of the family, including anything of his. I did find were he misspelled my first name on occasion, and I'm an only child! Mistakes just happen.
Keep in mind that standardized spelling of names is a rather recent innovation. ECKERMAN and ACKERMAN are just variations on the same name. To find out the "correct" spelling (if there is such a thing), you'll need to keep digging on that line.
Hope you find someone that "can actually help" you. When you do, please keep an open mind.
Good luck!

One of my Christy's wrote his name Bainbridge on one document and Bembridge on another. Spelling wasn't as important to them as it is now.

I think it's conflicting, sorry you don't see it that way. There's a big difference between Joseph Howard and Harrold, especially since these documents were filled out by my grandfather. Why is he changing the information? There's a big difference between 1889 and 1896. Eckerman and Ackerman, which is it? I would like to know, or did he make these names up? Thank you for your help. If anyone out there can actually help me, I would appreciate it.
