I am back home. Not sure where I got the info but I have him as widower moving from Tennessee to Arkansas and marrying Elisabeth there in 1838. I find it interesting that you have his father, Joseph, dying in Bedford, Tennessee. Where did you come across this, I am interested in trying to pursue this more. I have run across a Joseph Christmas/Christy who was a surveyor in middle Tennessee and tried to trace him but so far not a lot of luck. No one is sure where Andrew or his sons Andrew and Joseph were born. All we know for sure is he showed up in North Carolina by 1778. Some do think Andrew was from Scotland or Ireland and was indentured 1745 to a Thomas Harris in Lancaster, Pa. That he married, served out his indenture and moved to North Carolina.

I have found a Zachariah and Elijah Christy in Campbell Co., VA taxes about
1790's. Zachariah disappears, but Elijah continues until he moves to
Kentucky. Would anyone know who this Zachariah is and where he came from?

Maureen:
I am having a difficult time finding your Christy line. Your most remote ancestors Andrew, James, and John would indicate your line descends from Andrew Christy born in Northern Ireland in 1718. This Andrew came to America in 1762 with his three children John, Ann, and James. We can start with your line at Andrew > James > John. This is NOT the John who was one of Andrew's three children.
The John in this line was the first of seven children born to Andrew's son James Murphy Christy and James' first wife Mary Campbell. This John was born on 13 Dec 1774 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Christy and they had two children that I can find in my database = another Mary Christy and a Henry Christy. This is probably where your George would fit in, but I do not have any information on your George.
Is there any way you could give us more information on all your Christies starting with your father and concluding with George? What I would like to have would be complete dates for all the Christy surnames you referred to in your post. Complete dates would be the day of the month, the month, and the year for every birth, marriage and death date. Next, I would need the complete location, if you have them, for each birth, marriage and death. A complete location would be the city, county, and State where the birth, marriage, and death occurred. The last thing I would need, again, if you have this information, would be the complete names of the persons which would be the first, middle, and last names of each person including the maiden name of the wives.
I know this sounds like a lot of work if you do not already have the information about these families in your computer, but I do not know see any other way to connect your line into the many other Christy lines I have in my database. It will be a simple task if you have this information in your computer, or in some other organized way, so we would not have to spend time "shooting in the dark."
I AM interested in your line and if you can get me the information I have requested, I should be able to find some connections with other Christy families I have. Are there Christy lines that you have researched other than your father's?
Your friend, Jim

Greetings Joan:
In your posted message on Ancestry.com Christy Message Boards, you say, "I also have a copy of Bayard Henderson Christy. James Christy of Westmoreland Co. PA Ranger on the Frontier During the Revolutionary War. This is easier to follow than the writing copied by Grace Marvin Winnagle and there are more details."
Could you please tell me where you got your copy of the James Christy Manuscript you refer to in your post and any other places you may know about where this manuscript can be purchased? How many pages are in the manuscript? Is there any way you could email me a copy of the Title of the manuscript, the Publisher's data (usually in the first page), the Table of Contents and the Index in the manuscript? I will be happy to pay you for any charges you may incur in doing this for me. If you would prefer to send the information by snail mail, you can send it to "James A. McIntosh, 2038 Royal Circle, Salt Lake City, UT 84108-2231.
Thank you Joan!

Will take a look at Andrew as a possible dad to Joseph. Been snooping on census records for John and Elisabeth this evening. In 1850 she was 43 and Thomas was 21 making their marriage date about 1828, I have 1838. Might post and see what others think as well, this is getting better than CSI.
Will catch you when you get back..

I don't have access to ancestry.com but check on Andrew Christy b. abt. 1735-1745 and he had son Joseph of which very little has been verified. He is only Joseph of Iredell co., North Carolina in that time period so quite possibly same as your Joseph. I will be gone a week but feel free to contact me through my email address if you think there is a connection as I would have a ton of info to share. I also have a lot of info on a William b. abt. 1782 if you think it might be the one you have. I also have a lot of info on a James b. abt. 1813 that might also be a son of Joseph. Looking forward to talking when I get back home.

Sorry to say I don't have any more on James or William, hoping by posting someone out there might.
As for John being married twice, that makes sense now, was staring at the dates as I was posting thinking it looked at little odd on the time difference but have never seen anyone else bring it up till you did.
I have some info on Joseph but none thing on Thomas. Will be glad to send what I have.
I have Joseph Christy b.1766 in Penn and a death year of 1830 in Bedford Tennessee. Married to Mary also of North Carolina.
Heading over to Ancestry to snoop on there files.

Just wondering where you found the info and if I could get copies of sources for my own records. This is the first confirmation I have of these people. I also only have the 2 sons Andrew and Joseph as children. Always figured there were more. I am a little rusty on this line haven't had anything new on them for a long time. Can you tell I'm excited. I descend thru Andrew-Andrew-Andrew-John-Andrew-William Burton-Mallie Kennedy-Lola Pearl. I will share what I have with anyone interested. Or if you could just tell me where to go to find the info would be fine also. Will pay for any cost. Thank you so much. Bev
