I found my Dr. J. H. (H. NOT L.) and Margaret. Margaret is the Daughter of Thomas Christie (b 1774 Westmoreland,PA D 1850 Butler PA). Dr. J. H.Christie (b.1841) is her nephew, son of William (b.abt 1820). My Lewis would be born about 1840.
I do see a Lewis B. Christie in the 1850 census of Springfield, Delaware, Pennsylvania...but do not know if they are related.

Hello. I have a Lewis Christy, b.1807 in PA. He's my roadblock. Could this be the Lewis you have a photo of? If not, do have any other information on my Lewis. I do know that he was in Lower Oxford, Chester County in 1826.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark Christy

I am looking for the family of Margaret S. Christy, born about 1817 in Beaver PA. She married William Jackson Randolph and her history is a mystery.
New hints come from a photo book owned by her son Thomas Christy Randolph. It shows a "Lewis Christy" and a Dr. J.L. Christy who look like brothers. They may have been brothers of Margaret, or perhaps nephews (born about 1840-50). Thomas would probably have met them in Pennsylvania or Missouri. I can find nothing. Any help appreciated.

Hello Ethel:
Were you able to contact Ed Visser at the email address I gave you? Were you able to get a copy of his manuscript?
Does the manuscript cover any of your Christy ancestors that were born in Pennsylvania or Ohio? Please let me know if the email address I gave you is still the current one for Ed. Was he able to give you any additional help in your Christy research? I hope he was!

How awesome to find other Christys doing research on the family roots. We live in Wagoner, Oklahoma, near Tulsa, and I have started attempting to do family research for the past few years - off and on. I would love any information that is out there. My father was Charles Arthur Christy who passed away in 2006. His father was Arthur Morrow Christy who was born in Illinois and migrated to Oklahoma at some point. My father always stated that we were Black Dutch from Pennsylvania, don't know that to be accurate but would love to discover.
I have a brother who also lives here in Grove, Oklahoma, his name is Arthur Glen Christy ( goes by Butch ). We both have only daughters and so the surname will stop with our generation on this branch of the tree. We would love to find out as much as possible about our roots.
I look forward to hearing from you!
May God bless you and your ( our ? ) family!

Hello Ethel:
You can contact Ed Visser who is the one having the manuscript in his possession. The last email address I have for Ed was eduardvisser(a)wanadoo.nl. It might make sense to send Ed as an attachment to your email my post so he will know what I said about his manuscript. I lost the one he sent me when my computer crashed. I have contacted Ed several times to get another copy, but he has not replied to my emails, so I do not know if he still has the same email address I am giving you. If you get a copy of the manuscript,l I would appreciate it if you could send a copy of it to me as an attachment to your email.
My direct-line Christy ancestors go back to the Andrew Christy who settled in North Carolina and his parents and grandparents, and I would be happy to share any of this information with you! Good luck and happy hunting!
Your friend, Jim

I am interested in the Christy's that settled in PA and also the ones that migrated to Kinsman, Ohio. My grandfather William Reed Christy born in Export, near Irwin, in Westmoreland Co., PA. His father was James S (I believe Samuel) Christy was born in McKeesport, Allegheny Co., PA. His father also James Christy was born in 1823 in Ohio. This James married in about 1838 to a Prudence Carvey of PA. All of their children were born in PA with the exception of Washington Christy born 1844 in PA or Ohio. James had 11 children between the years of 1838 &1858. This James is on the 1880 census and it shows that himself and both parents were born in Ohio. You mentioned the manuscript about Andrew's descendants. Is there somewhere that I can purchase this manuscript? I am very interested in reading it, as my James Christyborn in 1823 is a brick wall for me. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi J. Schoeler:
The original Christies who settled in Pennsylvania were under the leadership of Andrew Christy who was born in 1718 in Garvaugh, Ulster, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He died after 1790 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. He married Mary "Margaret" Wilson in 1743 in Northern Ireland. They had three children: John born in 1744 in Kerry County, Ireland, Ann born in 1748 in Northern Ireland, and James Murphy born on 19 Jan 1752 in Ireland and who died on 15 Nov 1833. Andrew Christy and his three children came to America in 1762 and settled in Pennsylvania. Later some of their descendants migrated to Kinsman, Ohio.
The expert on this Andrew Christy from Northern Ireland and his descendants is Eduard Visser who has a 62-page manuscript about Andrew's descendants. Most of my information about Andrew and his descendants came from Ed. Here is what he sent me from the Introduction in his manuscript. "First, as to the Andrew Christy, Sr. who came from Northern Ireland in 1762, this person is very well documented in the 62-page Manuscript entitled, 'The Christy Family in America.' Eleanor Christy Kramer and Margaret Christy Ackerman Daughters of Wilbur Amos Christy compiled it. In my humble opinion, it is a very good genealogy report about the family of Andrew Christy, Sr. and his three minor children who came with him to Pennsylvania. The childrens' names were John, Ann, and James who were born in the years 1744, 1748, and 1752 respectively.
Here is what the authors had to say about Andrew Christy, Sr. who was one of the primary founders of the Christies in Pennsylvania and Kinsman, Ohio, 'ANDREW the pioneer of the Christy Family in America. He was born in the North of Ireland about 1700 in or near County Louth (Lieth) as Lurgan Green was their market place. He came to America from the County of Ulster, Londonderry, Ireland in the year 1762 and landed at Philadelphia, Pa. He brought with him his children James, John, and Ann. It is believed that his wife died previous to his coming to the United States as there is no record of her landing. Her name was either Mary or Margaret Wilson.'"
The remainder of the Manuscript is the data about Andrew's descendants.
We should not confuse this Andrew Christy who came to America from Ireland in 1762 with another Andrew Christy, Sr. who came from Scotland to American and landed in North Carolina about ten years later. This North Carolina Andrew was born on 16 Oct 1737 in Kilmany, Fife, Scotland and died after 1790 in North Carolina. He married Elspeth "Elizabeth" Melville 6 Apr 1759 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland, where she was born. Most of the North Carolina Christies came from this Andrew and Elspeth. To the best of my knowledge none of the Pennsylvania and/or Ohio Christies ever settled in North Carolina.
