Hi Melanie:
In my 24 October 2009 Reply message to your 1 October post I said William's second wife was Mary Campbell which I had also said was the name of his first wife. The name of his second wife was Mary McCall born in 1759 and who died on 18 July 1859. Sorry for the mistake.
Your friend, Jim

Hello Melanie:
Sorry to be so late in replying to your posed message of 1 October 2009. I do not believe the 52-page Manuscript will help you very much; although there are some similarities. Your James Christy, you say, was born on a ship coming to America in either 1740 or 50. In the Manuscript there is a James Murphy Christy born in 1752, but he was born in Ireland, not at sea. He was one of three children of Andrew Christy who came from Ireland to America in 1762 and settled in Pennsylvania.
This James Murphy was married twice 1) on 5 January 1774 in Butler, Pennsylvania, to Mary Campbell born at sea in the Atlantic Ocean on 31 July 1746. James and Mary had seven children all born in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania between 1774 and 1785. One of those children was a James, Jr. born on 9 Jan 1782 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, however there were no children named George W. or Mary in either of his marriages. 2) On 22 June 1791 James married Mary Campbell born in 1759. James and this Mary had five children between 1792 and 1805. None of James, Sr.'s sons married a Christiana Pope Snellhart.
If you have the genealogical records from your James Christy to yourself, I would be happy o review those records and see if we have any connections. If we do, I would be happy to share whatever information I have with you.
Good luck to you Melanie in your Christy family history research! May God continue to bless you!
Your friend, Jim
Please have a great day with your best friend - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Hello Melanie,
Nice to get your reply. I have been trying to find info on my husbands family. His grandfather was George W. Christy born Nov. 19, 1883, I believe as per 1930 census. He was married to Florence and has children, George W., Netta, Raymond, Walter, Albert, Harry, Norman and Betty. William was born later. His grandfather was born in Pa. as well as his mother and father. I lso located info from 1900 census that I believe to be him. It shows Edward F. Barrows as his step father, mother's name, Margaretta L. with children William, James, George W. and Florence L.
My husband has one uncle, William, that is still living (75), and we have been trying to get more information from him. I know my husband, Al, had an aunt who lived in Fl., Netta who was married to John Fisher.
Please let me know if any of this might connect, and I will let you know if I hear any more from Uncle Bill who lives in Ca.

I have a James Christy who I was told, was born on a ship coming to America in either 1740 or 50. He was born just as they passed Cape May in Delaware Bay. I do not know his parents names. He settled in Philadelphia as a grocer in Northern Liberties, and fought in the revolutionary war in the New Jersey 4th & 2nd battalions. He married twice, first wifes name is unknown. They had 3 children George W., Mary, and James Jr. His 2nd wife was Chistiana Pope Snellhart. They had William C., and Sarah. Does this book on Andrew Christy have anything that connects with me?
