I guess I cannot decipher your email address, all of it after your first and last name. Could you please let me know what it is either by a post on these message boards or by email direct to my address which is jamerm(a)comcast.net.?
I have tried several times to send you an email, but I get a "Protcol error," messaging saying I cannot send you the email.
Thank you!

Hello again Ed:
Thank you very much for your post on these message boards on Thursday, 20 Apr 2006. This is one of the best and most complete replies I have seen! A lot of people express knowledge of many things pertaining to the origin of the Christies in America and they wax strong about the fifteen children in this Christy family, the 12 in another Christie family, etc. ad infinitum. But when you ask them questions about their post and about their sources, you never hear from them again. Further posts by these people are very suspect after a few of these experiences.
I am glad you took the time to document your sources and to try to answer all the questions I had asked you and you even added a little bit more information that I hadn’t asked for. Someone who is that prompt, thorough, and complete earns other people's respect easily.
Thank you again for your Post. I have a few other questions for you, but I will send them directly to your email address.
Thanks again!
Your friend, Jim

Hi Raymond,
I'm sorry but accoring to my data this Andrew came to America with his sons James, John and daughter Ann. The first years they lived in Mifflifn County Pa, then moved to Salem Cross Roads, Westmoreland Co Pa. So this is not the Andrew you are looking for. best of luck, Ed Visser
I am wondering if any of the Christy lines under discussion could be
connected to the line I am researching. I have an Andrew Christy born
1768, Ohio. Possible parents - James and Jane. In 1791 this Andrew was
in Fayette cty. KY where he married Elizabeth Cartmill. They had
children Mary and James before moving back to Ohio where they had 9 more
children. In 1822 the family settled in Lawrence county, IL.

Hello Ed
I am most interested in your information regarding an Andrew Christy who came to America in 1762. I have been researching an Andrew Christy who arrived in Rowan county NC after 1763 and beford 1778. You may understand my frustration since I have been looking for information as to where he came from for these past 8 years to no avail. He arrived in Rowan county with two sons, Joseph and Andrew JR. The elder Andrew Christy died in Rowan county before the 1790 census and was survived by a wife whose name is lilkewise an enigma. I have the line from Andrew JR to present day solid. Can you be of any help to me? Raymond Christy

Jim,
I have a typed and many times photocopied document titled The Christy Family In America, by Eleanor Christy Kramer and Margaret Christy Ackerman. This document was in the possessison of my wife's grandmother Helen Allen Christy of Kinsman, Ohio, and she gave it to my father-in-law.
My knowledge is purely based on this document, plus an occasional verification on the internet.(I saw the same male line that leads to her recently on a Christy Forum I guess it was).
The document states that "Andrew Christy was born in Northern Ireland, in or near County Louth (lieth), as Lurgan Greene was their marketplace. He came to America from the county of Ulster, Londonderry, in the year 1762 and landed at Philadelphia, Pa. He brought with him his three children James, John and Ann. It is belived that his wife died previous to his coming to America as there is no record of her landing. Her name was either Mary of Margaret Wilson.
The original home of the family was in Scotland, their residence in Ireland probably dating back to the colonizing scheme of King James in 1608-1610. There are papers in which the name of John Christie of the Parish of Jaeburgh appears, which seems to indicate the original home and the old way of spelling the name.
In America he lived for a few years in Mifflin County, Pa. Then he moved to Salem Cross Roads, Westmoreland County, Pa, where he lived until his death (exact year unknown, EV). The two sons each purchased a farm there but sold later and went farther west.
He is probably buried at the Concord Cemetary, where a number of his descendants are interred. He weas a Presbyterian, as were his children.'"
The line of my wifes descendancy is thus:
Andrew's son James Christy, born ca. 1752, Northern Ireland married Mary Campbell in Butler Pa. on Jan 5, 1774.
He died Nov 15 1833, she died Mar 11 1790.
James' son Andrew Christy was born June 20 1776. He married Elizabeth McConnell on Dec 12 1812. He died May 3 1863 Kinsman, Oh, she died Aug 4 1863, same place. She was born ca 1796, place unknown.
Andrews son William Reed Christy was born June 15 1828,Kinsman. He married Caroline A. Brooks, born April 2, 1834. place not known. Date of marriage Oct 22 1856, Kinsman Oh. He died Dec.16 1907, she died May 11 1858, same place.
Williams son Lauren Davis Christy was born Sept 25, Kinsman. He married Jessie Amanda Allen, born Nov 23, Kinsman. Date of marriage not mentioned. Lauren died Nov 25 1891, Kinsman, Jessie died Aug. 3,1939, Kinsman.
Laurens daughter Helen Allen Christy was born Febr. 26,1897, Kinsman. She married Mario Montessori Dec. 5 1917 in San Diego Cal. Helen followed instruction courses by Maria Montessori there and Maria's only son Mario fell in love with Helen, they married very young and went back to Italy with Maria Montessori.
On the internet I found an old map of the Kinsman township (year 1856) which shows a lot of Christy farms and some Allen farms a little East of the center of Kinsman.
I hope you can give some info on the wifes, research from here is difficult...!
Best, Ed

Good morning Ed:
Do you have any sources for your statement that Andrew Christy Sr. came from Northern Ireland in 1762. I have seen his birthplace as Kimany, Fife, Scotland. Also do you know the names and dates and places of birth of the children and his wife when they arrived in North Carolina.
There are so many James, Andrew, and William Christies connected to Andrew Sr.'s families, that it would be helpful if you could identify those names plus their wives who you used in your post by dates and places of births, marriages, and deaths.
Thank you!

Adam Christy, age 18, is listed as a student at the Choctaw Academy in Scott County, Kentucky, 1838.
I am not related to this family, just passing on this information that I found on a website called "Choctaw Academy" The link for the site is listed below.
