I ran across an Ebenezer Christy in Butler County, PA. He was born Aug 1825 in PA. Married to Eliza Unknown who was born Jan 1829 in PA. Would be interested if anyone can point me in the right direction on who Ebenezer's parents were and if he connects to the Christy's in Butler County, PA. Found him in the 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, and 1910 census but not in 1850. No idea on his wife's maiden name. 1900 census states that Eliza had been married for 52 years and had given birth to 8 children with 4 still alive. Any help would be appreciated....

Thank you for your reply. The grandchild of Andrew Christy that I refered to was William Sidney Christy, born 1810 in Iredell County, NC. William Sidney's fathr was James born in NC between 1775 and 1780. James' father was Andrew(Jr.)born in NC in 1755. James's brothers and sisters were Andrew(III), Susannah, Joseph, Richard, Mary and John. James' father, Andrew(Jr.), moved to Indiana around 1818 with several of his children and grandchildren, but James and his son William Sidney remained in NC. Andrew Jr. died in Indiana in 1822 and left a will. Subsequently in 1857 William Sidney moved from NC and settled in Lumpkin County GA with his second wife Mary Elizabeth Haney.
Several records indicate that both Andrew Jr. and Andrew Sr. who were living in Rowan County NC in from 1778 to 1784 Part of Rowan became Iredell County in 1788. The records show Andrew Jr continued to live in the area until about 1818. The Christy will in Indiana suggests the family previously lived in NC.
The oldest record I have is a vacant land entry for an Andrew Christy in Rowan County on Grants Creek in 1778. Andrew Sr. apparently died in Rowan or Irdell County sometime after 1784 and prior to the 1790 census.
I have copies of various records such as census data, tax lists, land record entries, a 1782 Leglislative Petition, and a extract of the will from Indiana. I have listed that data by name and event in an MS Excel spreadsheet creating a sort of time line. I also have my family tree in genelogy computer file. Unfortunatly I was learned too late that I need to document the source of my data in the computer, so I have a lot of work to do on that. I will be glad to share any of this with you. You can email me directly at christyb(a)bellsouth.net

Greetings bchristyga:
Thank you for your post. Who is the grandchild of Andrew Christy that you say was born in Georgia? Which Andrew Christy are you interested in?
As you know from my prior post on this thread, there were two Andrew Christies who have been documented as coming from the British Isles to America within a similar period. Do you have any records for the family of the Andrew Chlristy you are asking me about? If you do, It would certainly help me to know how I can best assist you in your Christy research. Please let me give you some pieces of the puzzle for a few of the Andrew Christies born in the British Isles in the 1700s. This may help you see why you have hit so many dead ends during the past eight years.
There is an Andrew Christy, Sr. born on 16 Oct 1737 in Kilmany, Fife, Scotland. This Andrew had a son Andrew Christy, Jr. who was born on 1755 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland. This Andrew Jr. had a son named Andrew Christy III who was born in North Carolina in 1775. There was another Andrew Christy born in 1787 in NC. Next, we have an Andrew Christy born in 1806 in North Carolina and who was the son of Joseph Christy and Cuturrah Unknown. This Joseph was the son of the Andrew Christy, Sr. who we started with who was born on 16 Oct 1737 in Kilmany. These are just some of the Andrew Christies, who came from Scotland to North Carolina during the 18th Century,
Then we have the Andrew Christy born in 1718 in Northern Ireland. This Andrew had a son James Murphy Christy who was born on 19 Jan 1752 and this James had a son Andrew Christy born on 20 Jun 1776 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. We also have an Andrew Christy born in 1798 and who married Sarah Cooley on 10 Apr 1821 This Andrew was the son of John Christy who was born Jun 1751 in Pennsylvania and Anna Schultz who was born in 1750.
If you have a genealogy report or some other organized records that you could send me, and which identify the Andrew Christy you are asking me about, I would be happy to give you my sources for the people you are seeking.
Thank you, bchristyga!
Your friend, Jim

Jim,
The Andrew Christy you mention that came to North Carolina is my ancestor. I have tried for years to find where he came from. Can you give me any more information supporting Scotland as his country of origin? One of his grandchildren settled in Georgia. I would be glad to share any information I have.
Hi Bill,
Never bored to have more information! I would love to have a photo of
the shrine. I don't have any information on James Sr. except that he was born
12 May, 1746 in London. No parents. He died 16 March, 1840. Thank you so
much. Anne
