Eugenia:
In my post I sent to you a few minutes ago, I used the wrong last name for the George I discussed. The correct name should be George Washington Christy, not George Washington McIntosh. Sorry about the mistake. I have a direct line ancestor by the name of George Washington McIntosh who married a Christy. It looks like I had one of my "senior moments" again! :-0

Greetings Eugenia:
The George you mention as one of the children of Andrew Christy and Delilah Carter was George Washington McIntosh. He married Mary Jane White on 15 Nov 1866 in Iredell County, North Carolina. George and Mary had a child William F. Christy who was born in 1870. This William married Fannie Bostran.
If you would like to discuss this family further, you can email me at jamerm(a)comcast.net.
Your friend, Jim

not my family
Thomas Christy, b. abt 1830 and d. 12/1/ 1893 -- we think he probably
died in Huntington, WV-- is my gg-grandfather. He is also the brick
wall that neither my late mother nor I can crack. I have searched many
of the online indexes to Cabell County (WV) cemeteries and have not
found Thomas Christy (or Christie). His son, James William Christy,
Sr. (1858-1901) is my g-grandfather.
Thomas m. Jemima Hughs/Hughes (1822-1890) in Gallia Co.,OH, but raised
his family in WV. He is listed as Thomas Christie in the marriage book.
Jemima was the d/o John Hughes and Elizabeth Ott who were born in PA
circa 1777, and later settled in Mason Co. WV. Their dates of death are
unknown to me.
The census records show Thomas being born in Ohio and in Virginia and
his birth year varies.
On the 1860 Cenus, Thomas is living in Green Bottom, WV, with age &
birthplace listed as 25 and Ohio. The household listed is:
"Thomas Christy Not Stated, Cabell, VA 25 1834 Ohio Male
Jemimah Christy Not Stated, Cabell, VA 30 1829 Virginia Female
Jennie [sic]* Christy Not Stated, Cabell, VA 7 1852 Virginia Male
William Christy Not Stated, Cabell, VA 1 1858 Virginia Male.
...this is James William Christy, my g-frandfather
De kalb Hughes** Not Stated, Cabell, VA 14 1845 Virginia Male "
* This is probably a bad transcription and should probably read
"Jerome" who was born in 1853.
<>** DeKalb Hughes was Jemima's son by a "Mac McMullen" according to
the Mason County WV History book:
According to the History of Mason County, W.Va: "THE HUGHES FAMILY"
"Dekalb Hughes born 7 Jan 1845, Ohio, the son of Jemima Hughes and a
McMullen. Married 27 July 1865 Gallia County, OH to Jane Ann Bowen born
28 March 1845 on Mud River, Cabell Co. Va. Daughter of Wm. Abner and
Adelaide Templeton Bowen. Dekalb served in the Civil War as a
Confederate soldier, 2nd.Co.D 8th Reg. Va. Cavalry under General
Jenkins. He died 12 May 1915 Mason Co. W.Va. Jane Ann died 16 March
1928, Mason Co. and both are buried Beale Chapel Methodist Church, Mason
Co...."

Fogle.
By 1880, my g-grandfather, James William Christy, Sr. had moved out of
his father's home after having married Priscilla (aka Permelia) Frances
Bush in Gallia Co. in 1878.
They raised a large family of 8 children, 6 of whom lived to adulthood,
in Huntington, WV. Their 2nd ypoungest child was my grandfather, James
William Christy, Jr. (1893-1968) grew up in Huntington but moved to
Cincinnati circa 1917 where he met and married my grandmother, Gertrude
Schmidt.
My g-grandfather's brother, Jerome, m. Susan Bailey in Gallia Co. in
1880, and proceeded to raise his family in Cabell Co., too. Jerome died
in 1935 and Susan died in 1946, both in Cabell County. They had 3
children: Bessie, Clyde, and Harry.
His other brother, Jefferson D. Christy, m. Eddie [sic] Farmer, in 1885
in Lawrence Co. OH. Jefferson is listed in the 1895-96 Huntington, WV,
City Directory as an "axle turner" residing at 24 Twenty-Fourth St.,
Huntington.
Thank you in advance for any information on Thomas Christy/Christie his
parents, siblings or any of his descendents. Although he was married as
"Thomas Christie," all census records list him as "Christy" but
"Chrostie" may very well have been the original spelling. I have photos
and other information I will gladly share.
