I am trying again to trace my wife's family tree on the Christy side.
First I ran into "spelling" problems - found references to Christey, Christy, Christie.
The Christy spelling seems to prevail.
Here is what I found to date:
Joseph Henry Christey (b 1854) married Sophia Biegle (b1857)
The Illinois Census states he from Michigan she Wisconsin.
Joseph & Sophia had nine children,
Sophia 1878, Joseph 1880, Emma 1882, Lena 1886, Fannie 1890, Arthur 1894, Walter 1896,
Herbert 1899, Eugene 1901
This next part is somewhat unusual, but we found in the past years "not too unusual" to have multiple sibling marriages.
The first three of these Christy (Christey) children married three siblings of the Eckerly family (probably prox 1910) in the Chicago, IL area:
Sophia married Joseph Eckerly; Emma married Joseph's brother John Eckerly, Joseph Christy married Mary Eckerly, sister of Joseph & John Eckerly.
The Eckerly family lived on Lawndale Ave and the Christey family lived on North Sawyer Ave
near NW side of Chicago.
Herbert's death is reported in Saratoga, Hardin, TX with surname spelled (Christie)
Walter's death is reported in Sunrise, Broward, FL with surname spelled (Christy)
Any help will be much appreciated !

I am researching the CHRISTY family on behalf of my wife.
Her CHRISTY's were from near Berlin Center, Ohio (Mahoning County). The town they lived in was named after the family, Christytown.
Her 3rd great-grandparents were John A. Christy and Mary Rummel (or Rummell). married in Feb 1862. John's parents were born in Pennsylvania, though don't know where.
John and Mary had 3 children: Eugene, Jennie (b. 1868), and Loretta. all born in Mahoning County.
John Christy had a brother, Steward (or Stewart).
Steward had a son, Boston Christy (b. 1870's)...he later moved to New Castle, PA. Died 1920-1930.
any connection to anyone?
Joe

Martha,
I am researching my wife's ancestry. Her 3rd great grandfather was John A. Christy. Although, he lived in Berlin Center, Mahoning County, Ohio. Married to Mary Rummel in 1862. Died in 1873.
Does this tie in at all with your John Christy?
thanks,
Joe Ryan
