I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of requests for copies of this poem. So much so, I'm going to try (again) to post it with this notice as an attachment, but using a different ISP. I have not been able to post it using AOL.
If you are still unable to view it as an attachment, and want a scanned copy, please feel free to contact me. I just figure that there are some people who would like to see it, but are reluctant to ask for or accept an e-mail attachment from a stranger.

Fran,
What time period are your Christy/Mullens from? I don't really know if any of our ancestors came from the Philly area. We have only NY/NJ info at this time.

I have come across an article in an old bible detailing the funeral of General Breckenridge at Lexington, titled "kentucky's dead". Also in this bible was a newspaper clipping with a poem written by "Col. Christy of kentucky, a Confederate soldier on his death bed." The Title is "Kiss me For My Lizzie", and an obituary for one Marcus Lindsey Wilson d. 12 December 1872 age 20, son of Fletcher and Sarah (Boy, was Sarah a popular name back then, or what?).These are too lengthy of items for me to transcribe, sorry, but anyone wanting a scanned copy in JPEG format can feel free to contact me.
Names related to the Bible are Thomas, Walker, Heath, Allen, Carr, and Lyrm (?). Bible has 12 photographs in pages.

Descendents of Joseph Henry Christey (b 1854) married Sophia Biegle (b1857)
Census states he from Michigan she Wisconsin. Thru 1900 they had eight children, Sophia 1878, Joseph 1880, Emma 1882, Lena 1886, Fannie 1890, Arthur 1894, Walter 1896, Herbert 1899, Eugene 1901
The first three of these Christey children married three siblings of the Eckerly family (probably prox 1910): Sophia married Joseph Eckerly; Emma married Joseph's brother John Eckerly, Joseph Christy married Mary Eckerly, sister of Joseph & John Eckerly.
The Eckerly family lived on Lawndale Ave and the Christey family lived on North Sawyer Ave near NW side of Chicago.
Herbert's death is reported in Saratoga, Hardin, TX with surname spelled (Christie)
Walter's death is reported in Sunrise, Broward, FL with surname spelled (Christy)
Any help finding descendants is much appreciated.
For those who are responding, let me define the Christy Family that I am particularly researching. Andrew Christy Sr was the son of James Christy and probably Jane. He was born on Feb 11, 1768. He married in Fayette County Kentucky and married Elizabeth Cartmill, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Cartmill. They had the following children, James (1793), Samuel, (1795), Jane 1797, Andrew (1799), John (1801), Joseph (1802), Mary (1804), William (1806),Nancy (1808) and Harriet (1810). The family is located mostly in Fayette, Kentucky, Mason County Kentucky, Hamilton County Ohio, Warren County Ohio, Clinton county, Ohio, Lawrence County, Illinois, St Clair County Illinois, and St Louis Missouri. They do scatter with succeeding generations. They intermarry with Wilkersons, McDaniels, Jarrots,Dennisons, Clubbs, Smileys, Lantermans,Bowmans and others. Andrew Christy Jr (1799) was very prominent in early St Louis history and the Wiggins Ferry company. I have alot of info on this!
family but a little on the several other Andrew Christys that I have found that are not this Andrew Christy family. If you are researching this family that is great, but I will help on the other Andrew Christy families if there is anything I have that will help your research. You never know if the roots will prove to be from the same ancestor. There is always hope!! -Carolyn
In 1965 Nell (Mrs JamesR.) Coufal wrote a letter to the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort. She was inquiring about the ancestory of Andrew Christy (Born 1768) and Elizabeth Cartmill (Born1765). I have so much info on this Christy line and wonder if she or family members are still around. At the time of the letter Nell lived in Park Forest Illinois. I would love to make contact her and with others researching this Christy line. _Carolyn

Linda,
Does your Martha Christy have a brother named Thomas Christy who would have been born c 1830 +/- 5 yrs?. Thomas is my gg-grandfather, born abt. 1830 in OH according to the 1850 census. He m. Jemimah Hughs/Hughes (1822-1890)in Gallia Co. OH,(next to Meigs Co.) in 1851. They had 3 sons, all born in Va/WV:
Jerome G. Christy (1853-1935)
James Wm.Christy (my g-grandfather),(1858-1901), and
Jefferson Christy(1862-??).
Thomas is my brick wall and I have not been able to locate his parents. The 1850 Mason Co. VA census lists Samuel & Eliza Christy (ages 34 & 40, their 2 daughters, Amanda & Emily, and Thomas, aged 22. My late mother always thought this was "our" Thomas as he shows up in the 1860,-70, and -80 Cabell County, WV censuses with his wife Jemima, and the 3 sons I mentioned.
Pleas let me know if my Thomas might be a brother or cousin to your Martha.
Thanks for whatever information you might have.
_Mary

Hello Tina & Tom and the Christy Family,
I too, have a Martha Christy in my family. My g-great grandmother. Her name was really Marthina but most all of my records has her down as Martha. Martha was born on Dec. 31, 1824 to William and Hannah Douglas Christy. William was from Ireland(1794) and Hannah , Maryland or Penn. Martha died on June 16, 1867 and is buried at Wilkerville Cemetery, Vinton Co. Ohio. Martha married Dr. Obadiah "Diah" Beckwith Cowdery on April 24, 1848, Meigs Co. Ohio. Does any of this connect with anyone? Please contact me at lsandahl(a)accn.org. Thankyou

Where's he fitting in? My Benj. is supposedly part of the Edmund-Robert, ect. The Christy minstrel group. Ben would be a brother. Of course that s in the 1800s. That time period of 76 is hard to find because of the war. Was he a settler or of English rule?

I seek information on any CHRISTY in the Philadelphia area between the years 1746 and 1776 who may be connected to James CHRISTY, b. 12 May 1746 in London Eng., migrated to America probably with parents or relatives (uncle?). James went south to Augusta County VA sometime prior to 1776 during which year he moved to Greenbrier VA. He may not have been in Augusta very long. Cannot find anything on him there.
Thanks.
