Hello Debra, Doug, and Cathy
I am a descendent of Josiah Allen Christie (abt 1780-1840),believed to have been born in S.C.,died in Ga. son of a Robert Christie. It is suspected that Robert came from N.C or even Md-Pa area and I wonder if any of your Christy family may have gone southward into S.C.and if you might have any info to help me find or connect him. I have found the name Christie and Christy are quite
interchangeable within the same family group so am writing
you in hopes of a lead. Thanks for any help! Billie

Our family's brick wall is Thomas Christy (spelled Christie on his marriage record) , dob unk.,d. 1893 in WV. He m. Jemima Hughs (Hughes) (1822-1890) in Gallia Co. OH in 1851. They had 3 sons :
Jerome, James Wm (1858-1901) --my g-grandfather--, and Jefferson. They also raised Jemima's son born prior to the marriage: Dekalb Hughes.
According to the census, they lived in Cabell Co. WV from 1860 on, although Thomas appears in the 1850 Mason Co. WV census as a teenager in the hh of Samuel and Eliza(beth?) Christy. Samuel is abt. 32 in 1850 and may be Thomas' brother.
Any information regarding the parents or siblings of Thomas Christy would be deeply appreciated. The census indicates he was born in OH.

I am not sure if Mary (Christy) Gordon is a sister to John M. Christy or not. I will need to check that. If she is, I would share some of the obits. John M. was born about 1865 and married Ada Sproull, daughter of Hugh and Sarah (Glenn) Sproull. He would have been born approximately twenty years before your grandmother. Do you have reason to believe your grandmother was a daughter of Perry and Martha Ann (Campbell) Christy of Butler Co., PA?

I don't have much info on my line, but -- my Great Grandmother was Mary Christy Gordon. She lived in West Virginia (I think Wheeling area) and most of her children moved to Pennsylvania from young adulthood onward. Her oldest child (my grandmother) was born in 1887. I am wondering if Mary and John could be siblings or cousins since dates are close and general geographical area/migration looks similar. Would you be willing to share the mentioned obits? Thanks and happy hunting.
Hi, do you have a father listed for John M. Christy? I have a John R.
Christy in my line. Thanks, Debbie Christie-Rogers

While home over the holidays, my mother told me that she had found gravestones in a nearby cemetery with the Christy name. It is the Elgin Cemetery, on the north edge of Mystic, Iowa located in Appanoose County, IA.
The two gravestones had the following on them:
Charles Bamford Christy
1921 - 1923
Son of Mae
Brother of V.R.
Dora Mae Christy
1886 - 1948
Does anyone know who Mae's parents are or who V.R. Christy is? Or possibly who Mae was married to?
Thanks for any assistance.
