The Christy Partlow connection relates directly to my third great-grandfather John Partlow (1812-1886). He married Elizabeth Vining (1813-1881) and they had four children. The youngest son, Moses Ackley Partlow (1848-1926) was my ancestor through his eldest child and son Elmer Ellsworth Partlow (1868-1943). John had two daughters, both of whom married Christy men. They were Sarah L. Christy (1844-1923?) married John A. Christy and Elizabeth Louisa Partlow (1854-1930) married George Christy. We have a Partlow Family Web Site running and would love to have the Christy Partlow included. For more information please email me at

Thank you so much! You've helped fill in one blank. Ultimately I hope to trace this family back to Fleming County, Ky and maybe even to a cemetery in Ringos Mills, Ky. If you have any information that might connect I'd be happy to have it. Again, many thanks. Joseph

I'm searching for the birth place for Charles Christy(Christie) born Sep 1813 in Scotland. I found him living in Minnesota in 1857, this is the year he got married to Sarah Ann Adams. I would like to find the name of his parents and names of his ancestors.
Carolyn,
I'm gg granddaughter of A.J.'s sister Sarah (Sally). The information I have on A.J. is this:
A.J. was b. abt 1816 in KY. He married Sarah Comer 5 May 1836 in Bartholomew Co., IN. Sarah was b. 1819 and d. 11 Aug 1847 in Bartholomew Co.. He married #2 Susan Gant 6 Oct 1858 in Davis Co., IA. She was b. abt 1812 in OH.
Sarah is buried at Newsom Cemetery, Bartholomew Co., IN.
I don't have a place or date of death on AJ.
A.J. may have moved to Iowa when his mother and the rest of the family moved in about 1851.
1860 Davis Co. IA census for Lick Creek Twp shows fam #520 Christy, A.J.. 44, Susan 48 and 2 male children. Living with the family are children- Martha (11) and William (8) Cox. Also living with them at the time are Columbus (17), John (21) and Clara (19) Gant.
The Cox children are probably from Susan Gant's first marriage. A marriage record shows Susan Gant married Wm Cox 3 Feb 1848.
Children of A.J. and Sarah Comer:
John Christy b. 8 Jan 1838 Montgomery Co., IN; d. 28 Nov 1901 Perry Twp. Davis Co., IA.
Samuel J. Christy b. 19 Sep 1843 Bartholomew Co., IN; d. 21 Mar 1909 Salt Creek Twp, Davis Co., IA.
Absalom Christy b. 4 Oct 1846.

Gilbert born 1851 in MD or MO; they married in Clark Co.,MO in 1875; eventually moved to Kincaid,Anderson Co., KS, probably 1880s. Children I have listed are Harry, born in MO, abt. 1878, and Eva, who is a niece, born 1875-1876. She died in 1966, in Kansas City, at age 90. Judging by the place, names, and dates, it seems highly likely that our Christy families were related. My family descends from Daniel Christy, b. 1819, who married Mary Douglass in Meigs County, Ohio. I believe his parents were William and Hannah Christy. I also believe that his siblings were Eliza, Robert b. 1811, Martha b. 1824, Josiah E. b. 1836, and Charles b. 1838. Just to give you an idea of the similarity in names - Daniel's children were named Sarah, Robert E., William D., Emma, John Charles, Emmett E., Taylor D. and Mary. Daniel came to Meigs County from Beaver County, PA. William's naturalization papers are of record there.
Working on my christy line of John christy b. 1808 in NC. I have that he was m. to Elizabeth in NC as well. My line of Christy is through their daughter Elizabeth Mae who was m. to Porter M. HENSLEY. I have not been able to locate much on these lines. Have heard rumor that Elizabeth might have been of Indian birth was wondering if anyone else might know or have heard of this.
Thanks...kim
searching for info on my grandmothers wedding. Trying to locate anything on a marriage to Bertha RENFROE and Ottis MORGAN that took place around 1935 poss. in Davidson Ok. The marriage did not last long but resulted in the death of there infant son in 1935. The marriage was to have been annuled after the daeth of the infant son. Trying to locate the where abouts of the marriage as well as the grave of the infant boy.
Also trying to uncover anther short term marriage of Cora Elizabeth JAMESON to Frank Lane. The marriage took place in 1902 and last only a short time due to the death of Frank. A child was had named Hinton, after the town. The child was turned over tp family members, rumor has that they might have been Christy's, Cora's mothers side and went on to Missouri to be raised. Cora later went on and m. Clester Clovis Renfroe in 1908.
Hoping someone might be able to help me locate my Indian line. I have several lines that could be a poss. link but have yet been able to prove. My great grandmother Cora Elizabeth Jameson Renfroe had in her persession a Indian blanket that by family rumor had been through the Trail of Tears. Also her children through her marriage to Clester Clovis Renfroe had receieved monies from the oil off the land off the reservation. My grandmother was one of those siblings but did not recieve anything since she failed to get the information from her mother before mental problems became a problem. Sad to say my grandmothers other siblings have all passed on with the family mystery as well.
Hoping to uncover the tribe that our line my be linked to as well as genealogy for those missing lines.
My great grandmothers parents were Alexander S. Jameson and Lula Abigail Hensley. I have been able to track the Jameson line but not any further on the Hensley line pass Elizabeth Mae Christy and Porter M. Hensley.
Thanks for any help on this line.
I am looking for information on Lewis D. and Violet Harwick Christy. He was the son of William Henry & Susan Henderson Christy and grandson of Jonathan and Charlotte Parker Christy. My husband's father was Lewis' brother, George Washington Christy.
Also would like information on Laura Christy Anderson, sister of Lewis D. Her husband was Peter Herman Anderson. They are buried at Waterloo cemetery in Oklahoma.
I'm looking for information on Frances (Frank) Christy born in Rockaway, NY, around 1915-1925, he was my fathers brother. The only info we have is that he was in Austria during WWII, stayed in occupied Austria 1945-55
in the Salzburg area. We understand he was married in Austria and had at least one son that we know about.
He may have returned to the US around 1956 , was believed to be in the Washington,DC, area. We are not sure
if he remained in that area or returned to Austria. ANy info and/help would be apppreciated.
Barbara
By the time I noticed your reply, I have received the pictures and they are great.
My maternal grandmother was Cora Belle Christy who married I. N. Lewis, V. Her father was James Ambrose, then Henry Daniel, and then James and Hannah.
I'd also like to know how you're related.
Thanks for the pictures.
