Chris,
I saved our earlier emails in my "Christy" folder. Thank you for sharing
your web site which I find very informative and interesting. I do seriously
wonder whether there is a connection. Cincinati figures prominently in
the DeChristains family and this is where I was born & raised still reside
and where my grandfather, James Wm. Christy, Jr. (1893-1968)moved in 1917.
But I just cannot pinpoint any connections at this point.
Thanks for your interest,
Mary

Mary,
We corresponded a few months ago, and at the time I believe we came to
the conclusion that our Christy/Christie lines were unrelated. Now that
I have looked at the dates again I believe there is still a chance that
your Thomas is the grandson of my John Christy/Jean de Christains. The
name Frances also caught my eye because Frances/Francis is a common name
in John/Jean's line. The complete story that has come down through the
family can be found at the Clark County Indiana biography website...

Please let me know what you think about the connection....or if you have
run into any of the listed names during your research.
Happy Hunting!

As I've said before, my brick wall is my gg-grandfather,
Thomas Christy (spelled "Christie" on his marriage record),
b. 1825-1830 and d. 1893 probably in or near Huntington,WV.
Thomas m. Jemima Hughs(later spelled Hughes)in 1851 in Gallia Co. OH but
raised their 3 sons in Mason and Cabell Co. WV.
I 've noticed the name "Royce" before in connection with Christy's, and
now I have to wonder whether I have a Royce (surname) connection. My grandfather,
James Wm. Christy, Jr. (1893-1968), had a younger brother, Worthy Lee Christy
(1896-1962) who named his son, Royce (dates unk.)
I would dearly appreciate any information anyone may have to
help me find Thomas Christy's parents and siblings. Am willing to share
photos and info back to g-grandmother, Priscilla (aka "Permelia")Frances
Christy (1854-1934), d/o Richard and Mary Ann Eads Bush.
Thanks,
Mary Cervantes

No dates on the photo- Clarence was born in 1885, and was probably less
than 10 yrs. @ the time, so it was probably taken early-mid 1890's. I don't
know of any family in KY, only KS. I have some letters and photos from
family (Royse) in CO. Hope this helps!!

My brick wall is my gg-grandfather, Thomas Christy, b. abt 1830, probably
in OH, d. Dec 1, 1893 in WV. Married Jemima Hughs/Hughes, on Oct 3, 1851
in Gallia Co. OH--and his name was spelled "Christie" on the marriage record.
I do not know Thomas' parents or siblings although my late mother's research
shows a Thomas, age 22, in the household of Samuel and Eliza Christie in
the 1850 Mason Co. WV census. Samuel is age 34 in 1850 so he may be a brother
or uncle of Thomas. Also in Samuel & Eliza's hh in 1850 are:
Thomas age 22
Abraham age 19
Amanda age 15
Emily age 12
My mother was Dorothy Christy Cervantes (1920-1987), d/o James Wm. Christy,
Jr. (1893-1968).
James Wm. Jr. was the s/o James Wm Christy, Sr.-- 1 of 3 sons born to Thomas
and Jemima Hughs Christy:
Jerome Christy (1853-1935) (m. to Susan Bailey)
James Wm. Christy, Sr. (1858-1901)--my g-grandfather-- m. to
Priscilla Bush; and
Jefferson Christy (1862-????) m. to Edie Farmer in 1885.
Would dearly appreciate any information anyone might have on this line.
Willing to share history and photos.
Thank you in advance,
Mary L. Cervantes
