Have came into another family secret that has fallen out of the closet...A
child that was b. to Cora Jameson daughter of Alexander Jameson and Lula
Abbie Gail Hensley around 1903 that might have been raised either by the
Hensley clan or perhaps the Christy line which was Lula's mothers maiden
name.. Cora at the time of her husbands death was only 15 or 16 and we are
peicing together the possiblity that she might have been made to give the
child up. Not in adoption but to let other family raise the child so she
might get on with her life. The child was named Hinton Lane after the town
which she was born in.
Also was wondering if anyone had come across any info that might suggest our
Hensley line of havign either black or Indian orgin. Lula's parents were
Porter M. Hensley and Elizabeth Mae Christy. I keep hearing of Indian
somewhere in our lines but so far have yet to uncover the line which it is
coming from. Thanks for any help on this family mystery...kim
It's fun to have shake up of the old records and our family trees. My Christy's are Andrew Christy and Elizabeth Cartmill who were married in Fayette County Kentucky, moved to Hamilton County, Ohio by the early 1790's,lived in Warren County Ohio. and then moved to Lawrence County Illinois where they died. Their children were, James, Jane, Andrew,Samuel, John, Joseph, Harriet, Mary, Nancy, and William. Andrew (Jr) and Samuel were well known men in early St Louis history. Some of the names connected with the family are: Clubb, Wilkerson, McDaniel, Chouteau, Church, Bowman, Dennison, and more. Any information glady accepted, exchanged, and appreciated.
