Ray,
Just visited your website. Nice.
I am a descendant of James Milton CHRISTY, no connection to your line.
I also notice that you have, in your database, a number of HOBBS'. I am
also a HOBBS descendant, but from a different line than yours.
Small world, isn't it?!?!?!
Hello to all of you!
I am new to this list. I have just finished putting all the information
from Ruth Turner Ziegel's booklet in my database--that is, just the
names-dates-&-places information. The actual documentation is yet to come. I
called her husband and found that Ruth is deceased now. I asked him for
permission to publish the booklet on the Christy's on-line and he gave it. My
webpages are new and I haven't actually put the book on-line yet, but I hope to
have it up before too long. My webpages were just newly put up on Friday. The
url is http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bakhelvy/ I have about 300 Christy's in
the database. That number doesn't include all the female lines which are also in
the database.
I am currently working on the families of William Christy and Mary Jane
Royce as well as James Christy, Jr. and Hannah Royce who migrated from Fleming
Co, Kentucky to Clark County, Missouri around 1850. We have quite a lot of
information on their descendants but are looking for more. If you think you
might be related come to my homepage and check out the info. If you find you
are related, let me know! I'd love to make more connections. My guest book
doesn't work yet so please just use the email. Also, the one other glitch in my
homepages is that the "HOME" command doesn't work from the genealogy
information. To get around it, please bookmark the site and use your bookmark to
get back to the homepage.
Also, my Great-aunt Ruth who is a great-granddaughter of James Christy &
Hannah Royce has some pictures in her book of some of these Christy Families,
especially the ones who married Sheppersons. Unfortunately, some of the
pictures weren't written on 'til much later and I think there are some mistakes
on what we do have written now. If you can go to my Photo Album and see if you
can compare any of your pictures with mine I'd sure appreciate it. There is one
picture of a very LARGE family with all their in-laws that I don't have the
slightest idea who it is. My guess is that it is George Washington Christy and
Martha Jane Shaffer & family, but I don't know. I'd love to exchange pictures
with any of you who do have them.
I hope to hear from some of you.

I have that Samuel Christy (the one you call senior) was the youngest
child of Agatha Barnett and Julius Christy. Julius was the son of
Samuel Christy, wife unknown. Samuel was born about 1782 and died about
1855. The only wife that I know of was Mary "Polly" Day, b. 1789, d.
after 1860. In the 1860 census (Decatur county, Ind), Mary is living
with her son, Samuel Christy, Junior.
Samuel Christy, Junior was bornin Greensburg, Indiana on August 17,
1827. He married elizabeth Freeman on May 17, 1849 in Greensburg and
they had one daughter. He married second, Margaret lovett on January
29, 1857 in Greensburg.
This information is from the well documented book by Ruth Turner Ziegel
done in 1995. I don't recall the Rollins surname - but there is no
index. I know that Mary Day was the daughter of Truman Day and Mary
Saunders so it isn't her mother's maiden name.
Maybe someone else knows where the Rollins name fits in - or maybe it is
just wrong information.

Hi All
I was recently sented some information an am wondering Which wife is the
right one. I have a Samuel Christy Jr. who is the son of Samuel Christy
(will call Sr to save confusion) and Mary Rollins (this came from
Biographical History of Eminent and Self-made Men of the State of Indiana
1880). Another source has Samuel Sr wife listed as Mary "Polly" Day. both
sources have Samuel Sr as being born in Virginia.
Both sources have the same information an listed Samuel Christy Jr as being
born 1827 in Decatur Co. Indiana. He married first 1849 to Elizabeth
Freeman, and 2nd to Margaret Lovitt.
The Samuel Sr who was married to Mary Day ancestors are listed as (Julius,
Samuel).
Question is is this the same Samuel Sr. was he married twice. Or are we
talking about two different people
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello listers
Here are some of my ancestors. Some of you wished to know more about my
Guthrie and Christie connections (in Norway).
With the only exception (not 100% proved) of William and Margaret not being
the true parents of Andrew Davidson Christie all other info is well
documented. Brothers and sisters are not included in this list, but multiple
marriages are. I will be able to reply to questions.

I've been reading the recent posts regarding Thomas and James Wm Christy
and am submitting the short facts that I have about my gg-grandfather,
Thomas Christie/Christy, b. 1835 in OH? and his son and grandson, both
named James Wm. Christy. If any of the following info rings any bells,
please let me know.
After further digging in my mother's (Dorothy Christy Cervantes,
1920-1987) boxes of genealogy research, I located her findings regarding
the long-lost brothers of my g-grandfather, James Wm Christy, s/o Thomas
and Jemima HUGHS Christy.
Thomas Christy b. 1835 (Oh?) and d. Dec 1, 1893;
m. 3 Oct 1851 in Gallia Co.OH to:
Jemima Hughs/Hughes, b. 1822 and d.Jan 28, 1890 (d/o John Hughs and
Elizabeth Ott of PA);
they had 3 sons:
1.Jerome Christy, b. Aug 7, 1853 (dod ?)
m. Susan Bailey July 26, 1880 in Gallia Co. OH
2. James Wm. Christy (my g-grandfather),b. 1 Oct 1858 and d. 11 May
1901(Cabell Co.WVa)
m. Priscilla (aka Permelia) Frances ("Fannie") Bush on 30 April
1878 in Gallia Co.
...their children included my grandfather, James Wm Christy (Jr)
b. 24 Dec 1893 & d. 21 Dec 1968, Cinti.OH)
3. Jefferson (aka "J.G.") Christy, b. 1862 (dod unk)
m. Eddie Farmer 3 July 1885 in Lawrence Co,OH.
Any information regarding James William (Sr), Jefferson and/or Jerome
Christy and their
wives or descendants would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Mary Cervantes
Need help with researching my line of Christie/Christy/Chrysty families.
William Christy was b ca 1815 KY. (Probably son of Peter). He was married
to Matilda Hofhier. He is found on the 1850 Carroll Co, KY census. Living
next door is Peter Christy b 1795. William had the following chd: Isaac
Christy b ca 1847 KY, Mary Christy b ca 1848 KY, Alfred Christy b ca 1850
IN (he was married to Arvilla and had sons John and Herbert), Peter
Harrison Christy (my line) b ca 1853 (he married Alice Bedunnah).
Peter Harrison Christy and Alice lived in Dearborn Co, IN, they had Harry
Francis Chrysty (my line) ca 1869 (he married Mary F. Hyden), Minnie
Chrysty ca 1876 and Curtis Chrysty ca 1879. Alice Bedunnah Christy died ca
1881 and Peter Harrison married Anna ? and had Albert b ca 1884 (lived in
Kokomo, IN) and Maude b ca 1887.
Peter Harrison Christy may have moved to Putnam Co, IN by 1920. A Peter is
in Greencastle Twsp age 70 with wife Susan 47.
Would like to correspond with anyone else researching this family. Thanks,
Radine
Hi Debi!!
I need to make a correction to my list. I had shown John William Christy
as being married to a Annie Rhinehart, but should be Martha Doyle.
Thanks,

Hi Debi!!
Yes, we have been wondering also about the William Christy buying up so
much land eastern Ark. I started researching the Christys in the last few
months, which my husband is the Christy and was borned in Ark. We do know
at this point our side of the Christys came from KY into MO then into AR.
We have been told from one relative, that had been told to them, that their
were 3 brothers. One went to Canada, one to New York and the other came
south, which is our side. I will list who we have research and see if this
will help someone out there and plus maybe provide us with more info.
John William Christy b: 1848 KY (grt grdfather)
m: Mary Ann/Annie Rhinehart b: KY
His children:
George Albert
James William
Allen Frank
Clayburn Cleabe
Joseph C.
Burgess Eugene (Bug) (grandfather)
John
Elizabeth
Henry Christy b:1828 not sure where (2nd grt grdfather)
m: Martha Jane Jennings in Tenn.
His children:
John William
George Robert
Henry M.
Lucy Ann
Sarah
Joseph H.
Jesse
Martha
Thomas F.
Isabelle
Some of these children were borned in MO.
Elijah Christy b: Did find him in 1850 KY census (3rd g grdfth)
m: Polly Showls (may of been from virginia)
His children:
Henry
James
J. S. (Joe Siah)
John Christy b: ? maybe virginia (4th g grdfather)
No other info on him at the present.
I do hope you fellow Christys came help us out plus hope this will help
someone else out there. Any questions on any of the names please email me.
Thank you,
Lee Christy

This is exciting to being so close to hopefully a match in my line.I'm trying
to connect my John Christy who was b. in 1808 census said in NC but I wonder
if he was b. in Pa. He m. Elizabeth and they had the following
children....Elizabeth Mae b.1839 in Ark....Thomas 1829 in Tenn....Joseph 1833
in Tenn....Homer 1838 in Ark....Emeline 1843 Ark...and Adeline in 1848 also
in Ark. Has anyone heard of these Christy's in connection with these other
Christy's from Ark.?
kim
There has to be some kind of connection with my Christy's and these other
guys with the same names. My Christy could have been anywhere between the
1780's and 1822 when his son was born in Missouri. All I know is census
records show Thomas Christy born 1780-90 then on later census his sons say
their father was b in PA. So there is at least a 30 year gap there between
PA and MO.
We don't know if Thomas migrated from PA with his parents or as a young adult
with his own family and went straight to MO.
Years ago my mother saw one of the William Christy descendants in Arkansas.
She said he looked just like her Uncle. I truly believe there is a
connection somewhere but finding it is so difficult.
The courthouse where they settled in LA was burned in 1849 so all I have is
old census and land patent records.
Maybe if all of us from LA, ARK, Missouri and close areas compare data we can
find something to help us figure it out. Normally you don't keep using the
same names unless your from the same family. These Henry, John, Thomas,
William, James and Joseph are used in several of these Christy family of
this area. Then George and Preston are also used often in my Christy family.
Debi
Hi - my records, tho' limited, show that a Josiah Albert, son of Josiah
Allen Christie moved to Arkansas. He had a brother William born early
1800's. Hope this helps. Billie

Hi All
I'm looking for a Lucille Fay Christy who was born 1934 in
Carter County Mo. She married a Don Annis around 1954 I
think in Denver Colorado. They divorced around 1961. Was
last known to be in Texas. This was around 1975. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Hi List,
I'm wondering if anyone has found connections to the William Christie who had
a bounty land warrant in Fulton Co ARK in 1820, the Thomas Christie who had
one in Randolph Co, ARK in 1821, James in Missouri in 1801 or of the Thomas
Christie who assigned his bounty land warrant to someone else in Ohio about
that same time.
I'm trying hard to find the link back thru Missouri from LA on my Christy
line. All these names are found within my family to this day. I was
considering sending off to National Archives for the land packets of the
above but thought I would first post to the list and see if any of you could
tell me something about these guys.
Then there is a Josiah Christy found in Columbia Co, Arkansas in the early
1800's.
And what about the William Christie who seems to be buying up all the land in
Arkansas and Missouri in the early 1800's. Do any of you know his origin? I
don't think I've ever seen anyone on the BLM land site with as many patents
as he has!!
I've posted my family before but here it is again. Please see if any of this
is familiar to you.
Any info on the above or below individuals appreciated!
Thanks Much,
Debi
