Hi Judy, I would be very grateful. However I don't want you to go to a lot
of typing trouble. You did not say what time period was involved. I am
searching a Josiah Allen Christie who appears (from somewhere) in Upson
Co., Ga. where he married in 1815 a Nancy Cureton. I suspect he was born
circa 1760-70. If you think what you have lends anything to this elusive
relative, again thanks! Billie

Searching Family Lines:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/s/w/e/Billie-M-Sweat/index.html
I am still searching for the parents of Thomas Christy/Christie, who is
believed to have been b. abt. 1835 in Ohio.
I visited the Gallia Co web site and checked out the 1820 Census index
and found an entry for JOHN CHRISTY!
Thomas Christie/Christy, my gg-grandfather -who we think was born in
Ohio abt. 1835, has been our brick wall for years. Thomas m. Jemima
Hughes in Gallia Co. on October 3, 1851,[by S.B. Rathburn, v.2:p.189]
--his name is mis-spelled "Christic" on page 2 of "Marriage Records,
1851-1900, Gallia County, Ohio."
http://genealogy.emcee.com/~baf/census/g1820_famnum.html
I would love to know who Thomas Christie/Christy's parents were!!! Btw,
the ancestors resumed the "Christy" spelling with Thomas's sons: James
Wm., Jefferson, and Jerome Christy.
Jefferson m. Eddie[sic] Farmer in Lawrence County on July 3, 1885.
That's all I have on them.
Jerome m. Susan Bailey on July 26, 1880 in Gallia Co. by John G.
Damron[v.5:p.188]. Jerome and Susan (1862-1946) Christy are buried in
the Beale Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Mason Co., WVa.
James Wm., my g-grandfather, m. Priscilla (aka Permelia) Frances
("Fannie") Bush on April 30, 1878 in
Gallia Co. James Wm d. 1901 amd "Fannie" Bush d. 1934.
I've only been researching our family history for a year, but my late
mother checked census records before she died in 1987. She followed 2
possible parents for Thomas: John Christy and Samuel Christy. Her
earliest notes show a John Christy in the 1840 Mason Co. Va census with
(no names) 1 male child aged 5-10 yrs. No further notes on John
Christy.
re Samuel Christy: he first appears in the Spotsylvania, Va 1830 census
with 2 male children under 5 yrs of age. a Joseph Christy also appears
in the 1830 Spotsylvania, Va census.
Samuel and Eliza Christy next appear in her notes in the 1850 Mason Co.
Clendenin Dist., Va census:
Samuel age 34
Eliza, age 40
Thomas, 22
Abraham,19
Amanda,15
Emily, age 12.
There were no further notes on Samuel and Eliza.
Thomas and Jemima Hughs/Hughes Christy appear in the 1860 Cabell Co. Va
census with my g-grandfather, James Wm. age 1, Jerome, age 7, and DeKalb
Hughes, age 14-- whose exact relationship is unknown--is he Jemima's son
by a previous marriage?
Would someone with knowledge of the census please point me in the right
direction? Do I go to the local library and dig through the census
records? Is there any other census info online? Does anyone have these
Christy's in their family histories-- especially John Christy, Samuel &
Eliza Christy, or Thomas Christy?
The following is what I copied and pasted from the Gallia Co USGenWeb

Any information refarding Thomas Christy/Christie's ancestors, siblings
and descendants would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to share
his son James Wm Christy's descendants' chart.
Here's hoping....
Mary Cervantes, d/o Dorothy Christy Cervantes, grand-d/o James Wm
Christy Jr....
