Looking for more info. on:
Robert CHRISTIE chr. 13 Sep 1754 at Peterhead s/o William
married 6 March 1770 at Cabrach, Aberdeen, SCT
Margaret NAPIER
Children:
1) Isabell CHRYSTIE chr. 25 Nov. 1770 at Cabrach, Aberdeen, SCT
2) unknown
Then it appears as though they divorced in 1782, although that was very
uncommon.
"CHRISTIE, Robert Husband of Margaret Napier, formerly of Parish of
Glass, Aberdeenshire. Wharfinger in St. Catherine, Middlesex County,
Jamaica. Process of Divorce 1782."
Source: Consistorial Processes & Decreets, 1658-1800, Edinburgh, SCT
Held by the National Archives off-site.
"Robert Christie of Saint Catherine, in the county of Middlesex, and
Island of Jamaica, wharfinger, formally of the parish of Glass in
Aberdeenshire, against Margaret Napier, his spouse, had issue two children"
Source: Index for Consistorial Processes & Decreets, NA, Edinburgh, SCT
This Robert CHRYSTIE/CHRISTIE had the following siblings, as per the OPR:
Margaret CRYSTIE 21 Sep 1755 Peterhead father: William
William CHRYSTIE 22 Mar 1758 " " "
Martha " 22 Dec 1762 " " "
James " 13 May 1764 " " "
And then by 1791 "a" Robert CHRISTIE (c1752-1834) is married to Sarah INNES
(1773-1848) and living in Minudie, Cumb. Co., Nova Scotia and had 11 children,
commencing about 1793. This couple are my ggg grandparents.
The big mystery is whether my Robert CHRISTIE is the same one as mentioned
above in the divorce. Sure would love to get through this brick wall.
Thanks for any leads.
