Thanks for the information about the Galveston Seaport Museum. I am familiar with it and have even been there several years ago. I didn't know that they had a database of immigrations through the Port of Galveston. I will have to go down there (only a little more than an hour away from me) and check this out!
Much appreciated!
Jim

In helping someone do a little 'housekeeping' I stumbled across an article in the Mar/April 2000 "Everton's Genealogical Helper" magazine. The article was entitled 'Galveston's Texas Seaport Museum Database' - mentions the Galveston Historical Foundation at 502 20th Street, Galveston Island and website: www.galvestonhistory.org
They say there is a computer database (not 100% of the records yet) created by Joel Hokanson which contains more than 133,000 names for that port of entry. For a rather small charge they will search the database for you (no results guaranteed and fee not refundable) or you can go to the museum and search it yourself.
If you were going to Galveston anyway - drop by the Texas Seaport Museum, Pier 21, Harborside Drive, Galveston. Two computer terminals are positioned in that museum for use by the public in searching the database. This article gave their website as www.tsm-elissa.org I think I'd check for the hours they were open and if there is an admission fee.

Looking for my great grandfather - Martin Adolf Christopherson- born
in Kristiania (now Oslo) 5th August 1868,
his sister Anne Marie and his brother Hans also emigrated to America.
As far as my father knew - both Martin and Anne Marie lived in
Minnesota.
I am sure Martin was alive in 1906 - when his son in Oslo visited him.
Found a Martin A. Christopherson on Minnesota Historical Societys Death
Certif. Index who died in Hennepin County in 1948. It might be "My"
Martin - but the index does not say anything about where or when this
person was born - so I cannot be sure until I see the certificate.
Would have been very glad if there is a Christopherson - or some other
kind person interested - near St. Paul who could have a look for me - I
understand it is free to look into the certidicates.
Maybe I could do a lookup here in Oslo for you
Best regards
Bjørg Christophersen Aas
