Both my mother's paternal grandparents (Helmer Christoferson and Ragna Augusta Erickson) immigrated to Texas through the Port of Galveston in the late 1880s to the very early 1890s. As I live in Houston, I will try to get down to the Clayton Genealogical Library within the next couple of weeks to see if I can find some related records.
Fyi, they both came to a small Norwegian community centered around Hubbard/Coolidge near the Limestone/Hill county line.
Thanks again for your help.

Was personally surprised to see so many direct references to the Lone Star state in that emigration protocol. I think many of them immigrated through Galveston port, and I've heard rumors that the Clayton Library in Houston has a collection of surviving passenger lists on microfilm, but haven't yet gotten down there to confirm.
Aware of the concentrated Norwegian settlements near Clifton Texas but actually we are scattered all over Texas...

Thank you for the quick heads-up concerning the online 1865 (as well as 1875 & 1900) census data. I've checked some and so far have not come up with anything, but will continue to examine different spelling combinations and see if I can generate matching data. Much appreciated.
Jim

Were any of these siblings born in 1865 or before? You might have a chance of finding them in that year's census of Norway.
Christopher might be spelled Kristopher or Kristoffer, etc. by a Norwegian census enumerator.

A quick search of the online emigrant protocol for Oslo shows a "Severin Kristofersen Søbakken" leaving for Texas in January of 1903. He is listed as a painter and claims to have come from Romedal district (Hedmark county Norway).

(I didn't look for spelling variations of Texas in the destination field... but I'd sure expect them...)
Ragna Erickson........made me go look at my Genealogy.
I have Gunerius Christofferson/Christopherson/Kristofferson(how ever
spelled). Born: 22 Sept. 1856 in Pladson Tilleslokken,Garden Sjaastad,
Lier, Norway. He was one of 6 sons and 2 daughters) son of Chrisoffer
Ellenson(12 June 1828) and Marthe Hansdatter (11 May 1827).
His daughter: MAGDA ran a hat shop and married a CARL ERICKSON. She came a
few times to our place when I was young saying ya da and na na na.
I am the great grandaughter of Gunerius' brother HAGBART born 19 Nov. 1858
Horton, Norway and died 27 March 1931. Hagbart married Gustava Helene F.
Pederson (1868 - 1920 Norway). We would love to find all relatives and
cousins and get a great line going. A couple of Hagbars sons took the farm
name spelling it MORCH........while an Uncle Hans went by MORK.

Looking for family and parents of these siblings who grew up on a small farm near Oslo, Norway (per family tradition): Christian, Helmer, Severin, Martha (Matia), John and Carl Christopherson (often spelled Christoferson). Helmer was born 29 Sep 1867and came to USA(TX) before 1893; he marrried Ragna Erickson there in 1893. They were my great grandparents. Brother Severin came to Texas about the same time, but died in Texas without heirs. Matia married ? Hansen and spent the spent their lives in Texas. We know that Christian came to America before Helmer and returned to Norway shortly after Helmer came this direction. I have a nice photo of Christian and his wife (unnamed) taken in his 30s(est) by Inger Barth studios, Hamar, Norway. Family tradition says that John and Carl stayed in Norway, never coming to America.
Can anyone help? Jim
