Oyhus is a farm in the beautiful valley of Valdres, about 100 miles north west of Oslo. Closest town is Fagernes. In Norwegian Oyhus is written Øyhus. Øy in Øyhus does either mean island (Øyhus = Islandhouse). Island in this respect means a place close/surrounded by water. Øy could also mean deserted (Øyhus = Deserted House, House/Home left vacant during the big Black Plague in the 14. century).
Best regards
