I've "rescued" an old photograph album full of photographs from the 1870's
through early 1900's. The album originally belonged to Rettie WHITE of
Morrisonville, IL. It was a gift to her from Leonard B. CHRISTOPHER in
December 1886. I believe she later married Leonard and that her full name
was Ida Maurette WHITE.
Two photographs are identified was "L. & R." so I'm wondering if those might
be photographs of them. A memorial card for Leonard's father Benjamin F.
CHRISTOPHER who died 2 Jun 1903 is also included in the album along with 44
unidentified photographs and a poem. Based on limited research I was able
to find the following information regarding Rettie WHITE and her family:
Maurette Ida V. WHITE was a twin, born 8 Jul 1870 in Illinois to parents
Joseph G. WHITE (1834-1878) and Martha Jane "Jennie" SMITH. Rettie was one
of 7 children born to this couple including, Stephen G.; William Henry; Mary
Emily; Ira Maurice; Maurette; Charles F.; and Charles Fonly WHITE, all born
between 1854 and 1877. Rettie died 9 Jun 1939 in Wilmette, IL and is buried
in Morrisonville, IL. Her husband Leonard Benjamin CHRISTOPHER was b. Oct
1865 in Illinois to parents Benjamin F. CHRISTOPHER (b. 8 Dec 1829-d. 2 Jun
1903) and Nancy M. or Mary M. SILER (1830-1929) and died 31 Jan 1951 in
Morrisonville, IL. Leonard was one of 5 children born to this couple
including, Warren; Leonard; John F.; Harriet E.; and Isaac James
CHRISTOPHER, all born between 1850 and 1866.
Leonard and Rettie had a son Leonard H. CHRISTOPHER b. 1890 in
Morrisonville, IL and married Juanita V. HALL in 1909 in Christian, IL.
