YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 15, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church for Regina "Virginia" Christopher, 85, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at The Assumption Village.
Virginia was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) a daughter of the late Louis and Anna Klein Sobinovsky.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Interstate United, where she retired after 25 years of service.
Virginia was actively involved at St. Matthias Church.
She was a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union No. 161, Golden Echoes, Slovak Catholic Sokols No. 54, and the Christian Women's Association.
Virginia was also a member of Red Hat Ladies.
Besides being active in the church, Virginia had time to volunteer her time at St. Vincent DePaul soup kitchen.
Virginia is lovingly survived by her daughters, Dr. Jean Christopher (Dr. Billie Navojosky, partner) of Mineral City and Linda (Randy) Zoppetti of New Brighton, Pa.; a brother, John (Dorothy) Sobinovsky of Youngstown; a sister, Mary Yurco, of Austintown, Ohio; grandchildren, James (fianceé Tara Boneysteele) Zoppetti of Pittsburgh and Amanda (Brian) Ault of Struthers; and great-grandchildren, Regan and Kennedy Ault.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James, of 51 years; a daughter, Carol Miller; brothers, Al, Joseph, Louis, and Andrew Sobinovsky; and a grandson, Randy Zoppetti.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the Residents' Activity Fund at The Assumption Village, 9800 Market St., North Lima, OH 44452 or any local charity
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
The Christopher family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, where they will receive friends Sunday, June 15, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 4:45 p.m. prayer service. Also, they will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church located at 915 Cornell Ave., Youngstown, OH 44502.
