We may be related my 2x grandmother name was Matilda. She was the daughter of Emeline and Samuel (apparently she was named after your 5x grandmother). My Matilda was born in 1894. She gave birth to 8 kids. Her son, Bennie was my grandfather.
Please feel free to contact me at jinuwyne(a)yahoo.com. My recently canceled my subscription to ancestry.com because I couldn't find out any more info.
Look forward to hearing from you.

There may be a connection. My ggrandmother, Margaret, was in Fluvanna County 1850 with her family. Her surname was Tate.
I will contact you.

Thanks for the response. I am looking for William Christopher according to his marriage certificate he was b@1851 in Buckingham VA. He married my ggrandmother, Margaret Jackson in WV in 1887. I have no additional information about his parents.
Could William be related to you? Where and when in the census is the Christopher family listed in the census?
Yvonne

Not sure if we are from the same Christophers, but I do have a Matilda listed as a 5xgreat-grandmother. I am not sure of her maiden name, but she married a Samuel Barnett (b. 1810) and had Emeline Barnett (1854-1922). Emeline married Claiborne Christopher (@1835-1918). I was able to find Claiborne's parents, Crindel (b. 1810) and Kit. From my research, they are all from Fluvanna County VA. Hopefully this helps.

Hey, Teri! Henderson is my line, too, & I haven't been able to find him after 1900, either. No one seems to know where he & Eliza are buried. We are still in Guilford County & I'll be glad to share with you what I have. I'm not sure where Louise Josephine is & I'm not at home with my computer & all my "stuff". I'll try to check & get back with you the first of next week. You're always welcome to email me directly - cchristopher(a)triad.rr.com.

Hi Lisa (I'm taking that name from the author section so correct me if I have your name wrong). Thanks for responding. I think the census is a little confusing because there is a Sally Christopher listed with the same birth year as my great grandmother, Louise Josephine. Perhaps it was a nick name, but I do know that I have the correct line as well. I was out at Stokesdale Christian Church Cemetary last May and took a picture of James Garrett & Virginia Christopher's headstone. And I recall seeing another Christopher headstone there as well, but my camera decided to run out of memory at the wrong moment. I will be out there again in June and hopefully I will be able to get more information from the cemetary grounds keeper. I, too, will post any new information as well. I think a family reunion is a nice idea.
Teri

Hi Teri, Cathy mentioned in an earlier post that her husband is a Christopher - she noted the details on one of her posts which line she came from. My maiden name is Christopher, so I am researching my dad's side of the family. My grandfather's name was George, and his father's name was John E., all from Guilford County. There is some confusion about John E's father; the 1870 census looks like it says his name was Samuel (Saml) but Cathy corrected it to Simon. Either way, I know I'm from that line because it has all of my grandfather's aunts and uncles listed at the residence as children. I'm unfamiliar with the names in your line, but if I come across some during my research, I will post here again. I am just starting this process, so it is all new to me. I am hoping one day we can all have a huge Christopher family reunion so we can get together and figure out how we are all related!

My name is Teri Caudle and I am a descendant of Henderson Christopher and Eliza Calhoun. My great grandmother (their daughter) was Louise Josephine Christopher, her daughter (my grandmother), was Mary Syble Smith, and my mother is Betty Jean Wyrick. I have been looking for some time to try to find out what happened to Henderson and Eliza. The last time you see anything about them was in the 1900 census. I was wondering if you live in the Guilford County area? I will be there the week of June 11. I still have lots of family living in Greensboro, N.C. and surrounding areas. I do know that my great grandmother is supposed to be buried at Stokesdale Christian Church. I did find a brother of Grandma Lou's buried there, but I have not been able to find Grandma Lou's grave. I am planning to call the church to see if they can help, and I would be happy to share with you whatever information I find out. I am curious, you indicated in an earlier post that your husband is a !
Christopher. Which line is he from??

Thank you for your reply. John E and Hattie are my direct ancestors; I was having a problem finding John E's father. I noticed a John E as a child with a "Saml" Christopher as his father on one of Ancestry's censuses; however, someone recently submitted a correction to state his name is NOT "Saml/Samuel" but actually Simon. What made it confusing was that census stated that "Saml" was born in South Carolina - and there is a Samuel who shows up on a South Carolina census and being in the Civil War - but there is no "Simon" Christopher who was born in South Carolina on a census. Does that make sense? Does your family have German ancestors? I know mine definitely came from Germany. We have to be related somehow since the Christophers seem to have clustered in the Guilford County/Rockingham areas. Thank you for your help! If I am able to unearth a new nugget of info, I will let you know. Lisa

Hey, there! I'm not sure I can be of much help. I have some John E's in my line, but I don't think they're yours because the dates don't match. However, Simon & Minerva Milloway Christopher had a John E, born about 1864, who married a Hattie Medley & lived & died in Guilford County. That's probably your guy - at least it's a starting place. My line is Henderson Christopher, b abt 1812; Simon was born abt 1815. These guys were Guilford & Rockingham Counties & there were a bunch more Christophers right down the road in Orange - not to mention a bunch up in the mountains. The Guilford/Rockingham/Orange all tended to use the same names for their kids - but so far I haven't been able to connect them. Hope this helps you! (I would love to know if we're related, too!)
Have a great weekend!

Hi Cathy,
I've just started researching the Christopher side of my family...not sure if we're related and maybe you have more info to share with me.
My father was an only child, George Christopher (there is confusion about whether he was a "Jr" as he used "Wooten" as his middle name, but my grandfather, George Christopher, did not have or use a middle name - as indicated on his WWII enlistment card shown here on Ancestry.com - however, the 1930 census shows him as George H Christopher, living with his mother Hattie. His personal effects that I inherited do not show him using a middle initial.
My grandfather George appears in various censuses in Guilford County. He was born 1/28/1909 and died on 12/25/1970. His father was John E Christopher and his mother was Hattie. He had brothers named John and Lacy that I met at some point.
My question is, are we related in any way - and can you provide me with John E.'s parents' names
Thank you for your help!
