Have found grave of this, my gggrandfather, but absolutely nothing to take his line back further. This W H C Christopher is married to Mary Ann King, 1822-1905, and lived in Oglethorpe and Reynolds, GA (not Coweta, that's a different William Christopher). I can take Mary Ann King's line back to VA and 1770.
Any info that might help with this Civil War physician ancestor of mine would be much appreciated.

In Maryland
Looking for parents of William Washington Christopher-born says born in Balto MD about 1822-----(Each census he seems to get younger-LOL) Has dates listed as 1822, 1824, 1827---He married Elizabeth Rebecca Marsellas 1848 - they had two children that survived infancy to adult and married. One was Mary and the other was William.
Elizabeth died before about 1856 leaving him with two very young children. He married a lady named Matilda Law- She died, within 100 years---Later he married Sarah Robinson.
Census says that Wm's father and mother were born in MD-
They are related to Mullen, Marselas, Rhinhardt, Joslin families-Spelling varies-
looking for connections---

There were two William Christopher's in Coweta County at the same time. The ages on them make it possible that they are father and son, but I have never found any interaction between them, so I don't know... The older William claims to come from SC, while the younger William claims to come from VA. The younger William is the one that moved to Alabama, and has quite a history by direct family members, though they never placed who his father was. The older William, should be the one that has the children Isabella, Samuel, Nancy, etc. This would be the Nancy that married James F. Storey, and the one we are most interested in, though we would like to get to the bottom of both of them. Frances Christopher who lives in Coweta, and is a direct decendant of the younger William says that the older William moved to Flordia. I guess I would like to find out where he went, and what became of him and his children. Maybe get real lucky and find out who his parents
were. Frances also seemd to think that maybe the younger William could have been one of the orpan Christopher's over in Abbeville, SC in 1818. I supposed it's possible, there was a William in Abbeville up until 1830, then I believe he goes to Franklin County, Ga. before 1840. Around 1850 John Davis Christopher comes out of Abbeville and also goes to Franklin County, before moving off to Texas. I have always suspected the William that goes from Abbeville to Franklin County to have been the father of John Davis Christopher, though I was never able to prove it. It's possible that the William that was in Franklin around 1840, went on to Coweta County, and by that time his children would have been grown. Now, back when the orphan Christopher's were taken into the care of David Christopher in 1818, there was a William Christopher living in Abbeville in 1820-1830, though he was not present at the bonding of the orphans to David, as was a John Davis, and James
Cobb. Which is one of the reasons that I believe John Davis Christopher to be the son of the orphan William from 1818. I am going from memory and guessing at the age factors, s/one run the numbers and see how they fit
I am interested in the two William Christophers in Coweta County Georgia.
They both appear to be in the county around the same time periods, but there
appears to be no relation of the two as far as we can tell?
The older William claims to come from SC, and I have been told that he is
the father of Isabella Caroline Christopher that married James F. Garrison
in 1843 and moved to Arkansas. Also the father of Nancy C. Christopher that
married James L. Story also in 1843 in Coweta County. I wish that some of
you could run this down and see what you come up with.
The Younger William born in 1813 appears to have come from Va. and is the
William that married the two Hardy sisters, moved and died over in Alabama,
we seem to have good record on him after he's in Coweta, but no one knows
which Christopher family he belongs to. He is supposed to have been born in
Lunenburg County in 1813, some one ought to have a line of this family and
should be able to place him with a Christopher family from Va.
The 1840 Census transcription has a William Christopher on page 333 (census
page #) with 1 male 10-15, 1 male 40-50; 2 females 15-20, 1 female 20-30,
and 1 female 40-50.
On page 336 is another William Christopher with 1 male under 5, 1 male
20-30; 1 female under 5, 1 female 20-30.
The 1850 Coweta Census has what is probably the younger William Christopher
as follows:

In my family tree, W.P. married Harriet Elizabeth Montgomery and had a Martha May Ella Christopher on May 14, 1865 in MS.
Harriet's parents were Charles Montgomery and Margaret Livingston. Harriet had a brother, Alonzo Church Montgomery, born 1829. I have not researched that part of the family yet.
