Jessie Irene Myers Christopher, 96, of Sunset Beach Road, Morgantown, passed
away Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Point Manor Personal Care Home, Point
Marion, Pa.
Jessie was born Jan. 30, 1913, in Preston County. She was the daughter of
the late Maggie and Eston Myers. She worked at the WVU Mountainlair for many
years and later worked at the Holiday Motel. She loved gardening, canning,
baking and cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She was a member of the Cheat Lake United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Roger L. Christopher and daughter-in-law
Sandra Sue of Cheat Lake; two grandchildren, Matthew Christopher and
Samantha Christopher of Morgantown; one great-granddaughter, Khyaira
Christopher; one sister, Mildred Walls of Bruceton Mills; and sister-in-law,
Norma Myers. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and special cousin
Jane Ridgway who was Jessie’s best friend and shopping companion.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband,
Claude Christopher in 1980; five sisters, Hazel Darnell, Verna Echard, Effie
McDonald, Edna Bowers Gatian and Pearl Friend; two brothers, Donald Myers
and Gilbert Myers; a grandson, Stephen Howard Christopher, in 1978; and
greatgrandson, Dimitri Scott Christopher, in July 2008.
Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 6-8
p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, April 9, until the 11 a.m.
services, with the Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Burial will follow
at the Zion Cemetery, Sunset Beach Road, Morgantown.
I have no genealogical connections with the deceased.
