Addendum 2
Headrights of Orange Co., Virginia[1]
Headrights were grants of 50 acres of land per "head"
- or
per white male over the age of 16 who transported
himself to the
colonies. They appear in the Court of Common Pleas in
the county in
which the land was granted. The attached file
includes the headrights
copied from the Orange Co., Va Court of Common Pleas
in the 18th
Century. These headrights function as the only real
immigration record
for English, Scot or Irish immigrants in that time
period. The
headright identifies the country of origin and
generally the port of
entry in the colonies.

All we've seen are your notes, and as always we enjoy them. It makes me feel
good that I'm not the only one that talks to myself, and even answers
myself.
It's hard to make post on assumption's at least for me it is. And at this
point in my Christopher line that is all I have are maybes and unknowns.
This old witch has been busy at home with cookies, popcorn balls and all
kinds of brew for tonight. Maybe things will get better for us all in a few
days.
I have been looking for Carrington info, working under the assumption that
wife of William might have been a Carrington, but that board is less active
than the Christopher board.

Yall know I don't mind posting a lot of messages, not
all of them have great leads or info in them, some are
long and winded and will put you to sleep. I may be
wrong, but it seems like it has been days since anyone
else posted. I'm starting to think that I am typing to
myself, whats even worst, I am replying to my own
messages. I think I am losing my mind, heh, whats that
they say about talking to yourself, it's ok, as long
as you don't answer yourself, I wonder if that applies
to typing, heh.....

I should have made notations with this post. Here is
proof of what Ralph Griffin said about a large family.
I mean Ambrose got married in 1773, nine years later
his house counts 7 people. Thats 5 children in 7
years, assuming there aren't extended family living in
his house. So it goes to print, Ambrose had a large
family, it will be 16 more years before Ambrose and
family move to Rutherford County. The youngest we have
recorded is Ambrose Jr., in 1794, even if he was the
last child born, theres still a 12 year spread, room
for at least another 5 kids. So I would base the
family of Ambrose to have anywhere from 8 to 12
children total. It would seem that we are missing a
few at least. Elizabeth Griffin was 15 when they got
married, 9 years later, she has had maybe 5 kids. She
dies in Rutherford County at age 40, she may have died
from any number of reasons, including childbirth, we
may never know. It seems like my 3rd great grand
uncle, Ralph knew how to count, and I tend to agree
with his comment, Uncle Ralph, you came from a large
family.
David
ps, now if we could only find out who they all, or
almost all of them are......

I don't know whats going on, I sent out some mail this
morning, and here it is almost 7pm my time, and
nothing has gotten to the boards yet that I have seen.
I don't know if it's yahoo, rootsweb, or my isp, but
it's sloooooow.....
How many of you Christopher's that have tested DNA has
had the comeback that you are viking. I was just
wondering, because I know at least two Christopher's
tested that heard that in the results. I wonder if the
DNA lab folks are trying to pump up a kinda romance,
heck, maybe 90% of europe has viking bloodlines. I
don't know, I haven't cared for the team since
Tarkenton, what about yall, heh. Just kidding, always
try and add a little humor in these messages,
otherwise we'd all fall asleep reading them....

Lunenburg 1810 census data:
CHRISTOPHER John:
Males under 10: 1
Males 10 & under 16: 2
Males 16 & under 26: 1
Males 45 & up: 1
Females under 10: 3
Females 16 & under 26: 2
Females 26 and under 45: 1
Slaves: 4
This is the only Christopher I find in Lunenburg in
the early 1800's. John, over 45, making him born 1765
or earlier. This age would make it right to fit in as
a grandson of Nicholas. Somewhere, somehow, it would
seem that John here is connected to the young William
of 1813 of Lunenburg in Coweta County, Ga., but how?

I don't know, it's like we reached the corner, but
have been unable to make the turn. I am hopeful that
some new data will surface on the Christopher's of
Coweta County that will help us link them to somewere.
I am thinking Abbeville, but I could be wrong. In all
the info we have, does anyone know when the Willaim
1813 of Lunenburg shows up in Coweta County?

Spread the word fast! Snopes says this is true and it's coming in about
a month!
The Golden Compass
You may already know about this, but I just learned about a kids movie
coming out in December starring Nicole Kidman. It's called The Golden
Compass, and while it will be a watered down version, it is based on a
series of children's books about killing God (It is the anti-Narnia).
Please follow this link, and then pass it on. From what I understand, the
hope is to get alot of kids to see the movie - which won't seem too bad -
and then get the parents to buy the books for their kids for Christmas.
The quotes from the author sum it all up. I'm going to tell everyone
about this movie.

I don't think it says Kentucky, I think it says NC, look through other
sheets, and you can see the difference when you read one that says Kentucky,
and then find a few others to test about NC, loook how he curls the C in NC,
and the N looks right for his N, but its faded.......

Subject: [CHRISTOPHER] William, Polly, Caleb in Missouri - 1850 Census
Is anyone looking or otherwise tied into a William, Caleb, or a Polly
Christopher who were in Missouri back in 1850?
While looking up William Christopher in Missouri (thanks for the great info
you sent me earlier David!), I for some reason stumbled on the "Free Slaves"
census information for Washington County, Missouri. Take a look at the
following link, numbers 25-32.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mackley/Mo1850Jpegs/Washington50...
Do the entries look like the surename Christopher? Also, is it me or does
the entry for William and Polly show Kentucky as the place of birth, but the
other Christophers show Missouri?
Sorry if this is known information...
My current line - thanks again to David for the last bit of info!

How many of yall are members of the christopher group
that we have over at yahoo.com? Let me suggest that
all of you join, I may migrate most of my messages
through there instead of christopher-l. Since I use
yahoo for doing my email, it's eaiser, faster, and I
don't have to worry about hidden headers sending
messages to who knows where. Maybe its a filter from
rootsweb to route the messages to certain places, I
don't know, don't really care. If they want to do
that, let them internalize it through their servers,
not by hiding addresses in the headers of my email. To
join the yahoo group, you have to request membership
as it is a private board. If we get enough people to
join, I might send most of my message only there and
keep christopher-l as a sideline, right now
christopher-l is my main mailing, and yahoo is the
sideline. Let me look at my option to see if I can
make this eaiser for all who are interested, will get
back later.

I don't know for sure, but I am going to address this
anyway. I have the christopher-l@rootsweb address in
my address book to use for posting messages. I assume
that some of you are doing likewise? Most of yall just
read the messages and hit the reply button if you see
something interesting, which if fine, supposed to be
like that, you don't have to have the address if you
don't want it, or play to use it to post. Messages
every once in a while will pop up with the address of
christopher(a)rootsweb.com, now these messages could be
from an earlier message that has that address on it
and keeps getting replies, or some of you may have it
in your address book as the addresss. I would
appreciate it if you take a look and if you find this
to be the case, change the address to christopher-l,
all you have to do is edit the address and add a -l or
-L on the end of christopher, then save it. Mail
addressed christopher(a)rootsweb.com still finds its way
to the message board, but it seems to take as much as
10 times longer for it to post to the board. If we all
check and change our address to the -l or -L on the
end of christopher mail will be more speedy...
Thanks,
David

Does anyone know when Ambrose Sr. leaves NC and shows

Nicholas lived in Richmond, Spotsylvania, Orange, &

I descend by the following male line:
David (about 1720 -1783 or 1784) married and Elizabeth
(some evidence that she was a Grigg)
William (about 1760 - 1820) (married Lucy Jones
daughter of Richard Jones of Halifax Co. Va.)

William (about 1828 - 1903 or 1904) married a Eliza

Emmett (1902 - 1996) married Myrt Evans

8. Martha Christopher b.abt 1845 Marietta, Cherokee,
GA
d.aft 1870 prob. AL
Trying to find William Christopher b.abt 1797 NC
parents also Harriet Jane Harris/Harrison's parents.
William and Jane's marriage records etc. The earliest
I find them is in Spartanburg, SC abt 1830

"Brenda Andrews" <bandrews5(a)cox.net>
Isabella Carolina Christopher ( June 1823) m: James
Franklin Garison/Garrison in Coweta Co. GA. Dec 1843
1850 Div 19 Coweta Co. GA birth: SC
1860 Western Division, Fayette, Albama SC
1870 District 6, Obion, Tennessee SC
1880 Sugar Loaf, Sebastian, Arkansas SC
she also has her parents both being born in SC
My line has only one Christopher that I know of for
sure. No parents known.
But I do suspect her sister is Nancy C.Christopher,
due to a marriage of Nancy C. marring James Franklin
Storey, which also connects to the Garrison line by
Cicero Storey marring Mary Garrison, sister to James
Franklin Garrison. Both Storey men are sons of
Anthony & Martha Fergus Storey of Coweta Co.
I don't believe that Samuel E. Christopher is a
brother to either of these two females, Most of his
census shows NC for his birth and VA for birth of his
parents.
Shirley Christopher can not be connected to these two
females due to his early birth year of 1798 and being
born in Ga. And I don't believe that he is connected
to Samuel E..
So as of now I'm only going to keep Isabella & Nancy
C. in my data base for sibling.

Deion Ray Christopher (That's me) - Missouri
Ernest Ray Christopher (1935-Present) - Missouri
George Washington Christopher (1914-1977) - Missouri
Robert Jackson Christopher (1872-1943) - Missouri
William Christopher (?/?) - ? but believed to be in
Missouri
William Christopher was the parent of Robert, George,
Charles, Anna and Martha
This Christopher line is mixed with Sago, Wiliams, and
Lawson bloodlines in Missouri.
Family presumably has a Kentucky tie-in during Civil
War times.
Family also states a Cherokee blood line.
Robert Jackson Christopher (1872-1943) and George
Washington Christopher (1914-1977) were both assumed
by citizens to be African-American due to skin tone.
