The trial for one of the people thought to be the
trigger puller in our son's murder has been over for
some time now. He was found guilty, recieved a 25 year
sentence, and is now in prison. The other person that
was charged in David's murder, did a plea, and
recieved 10 years.
Sorry it's taken me so long to let all of you know
about what happened. I guess we (the family), all fell
in to a stupor after the trial. It's hard to fathom
that people can roam around killing others and be in
and out of prison before you know what happened.
Whatever happened to hanging?
Thanks,
David

I am trying to find Thomas Christopher or his parents in Rowan North Carolina.
Thomas was born around 1763. He married and had three sons by 1790.
I have been unable to find any mention of the Christopher family in Rowan County.
Thank you
Sorry,
I looked at the TN 1830 census and found William, Thomas and John all
living in Maury county. However William and Thomas are also in the 1830
census in MO and they are the family I am following.
Because of the names and origin in NC I still think we are connected. It
is just farther back than I thought. The missing link seems to be the
Christopher who started it all. I suspect a ship passenger list might be
the way to go.
Please keep my email and let me know if you find his name or other
information. I will post to this list if he shows up around here.
Blessings,
fran

This certainly sounds plausable.
John would be the brother of Thomas?
I found a Thomas Christopher in Rowan NC 1790 census that could possibly be
the one, however proving it gets tricky.
I homeschooled my children for 10 years and don't remember doing too much
more adding and subtracting multi part problems:0)
Thomas was born abt 1763 in NC
We made him about 27 and his wife about 22 and they both fit neatly in all
the census slots.
Including the age of William D Christopher born in NC moved to MO
So John would be one of the three sons listed in the 1790 census? Younger
brother to William D Christopher b 1787?
Could the other brother have been killed? It looks like his widow went to
MO and lived next door to William. He could have died in MO A wife, E
Christopher, living with children, without husband 1850 census. I have
not been looking for this missing brother in earlier census records. Now I
will try to locate him.
Was your John Christopher family religious? Notice the names Thomas and
John, wonder who # three might be.
I have eye strain from reading a history of Rowan NC hoping for a word
about the Christopher family. I assume Thomas parents are there somewhere
because he was born in NC.
Do you have an oral history saying this family came from Ireland?
The C initial in your William C. (John's third child) might be Caleb which
is William D's first childs name. Caleb's middle initial is W.
Caleb was born abt 1827, he is 23 in the 1850 census.
Yes, I would like very much to hear all about your family. Were they part
of the Civil War? Anything you know about moves they made would be
wonderful.
Thank you for all the information.

I have followed my husbands family to Thomas Christopher who was born [est 1757-67] in NC but buried in MO.
He was the Father of William D Christopher b 1787 died 1872 buried in MO.
I wondered if anyone was following this family line and could shed some light on where they fit in North Carolina.
Who Thomas parents were and where this family originated from (oral family history says Ireland)
1840 Thomas and his wife lived several families from William D in Washington County UnionTownship listed as 70-80 and 60-70 years old.
1850 has them 80-90 and 70-80 moved in with William D.
They do not appear on other records after this but I have yet to find death or cemetery records
__________________________________________________________________
Mystery surrounds 1870-80 where the family seems to have split up.
1870 James William D and Henry are living together St Francois exclusive of Liberty Tw
1870 Mary [Polly wife of William D] 73 years old is no longer on farm with husband but living with an 18 [John Boyds possibly a relative?] year old on a farm in Big River.
1880 Missouri Census James and Elizabeth seem to move in to take care of Mary (Polly) b 1797 [William D's wife, James mother] and her [Elizabeth] father William Winer or Wineow
This does not seem to be the same farm they were on in 1850. County name change Township change. [Washington Union to St Francois Big River]
I suspect something following the Civil war may have caused problems for them?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a massacre where Mary Christopher and her child were killed. I have been unable to connect this event to these Christophers. Their daughter-in-law Mary J was too young in 1870 for this to have been her.
James third son of William D is our ancester.
Our family looks like this so far
Thomas Christopher b abt 1750-70 NC
William D Christopher b 1787 NC Married Polly (Mary) unk b 1797 NC
James Christopher b 1832 MO married Elizabeth Winer b 1839 MO
William H Christopher b April 1856 MO married Mary J unk b Feb 1861 MO
William Christopher b Feb 1899 MO Mary Margaret DeMartini b 1902 MO
Lawrence DeWitt Christopher b MO my husbands father
Thank you for any help.
