To Calvin---who thought his ggggrandfather was Peter Chrisopher. In my
Northumberland Co, line, there was a Peter born June 20, 1777.
This birth is registered in the St. Stepens Parish

and I can give

Frank G. Lunbeck 2831, Unknown Co.
Posted by Sandi Gorin on Tue, 09 Feb 1999
Surname: Scroggs, Lunbeck, Rogers, Boone, Hickman, Christopher
History of Colorado Vol. II, the S. J. Clarke Publishing Company, 1918.
Unknown Co.
Frank G. Lunbeck is the secretary and treasurer of the Hickman-Lunbeck
Grocery Company of Greeley and is thus prominently identified with the
commercial interests of the city. He was born in Chilicothe, Ohio, in 1866,
a son of Samuel G. and Josephine S. (Scroggs) Lunbeck. The father was a
farmer and miller and built one of the first grist mills in his section of
the state. He became a pioneer settler of southern Ohio and the mill which
he there constructed is still standing. In 1870 he removed to Missouri and
died a year later, when forty-one years of age. In politics he was a stanch
republican. In early manhood he married Josephine S. Scroggs, a
granddaughter of Thomas Rogers, who removed from Pennsylvania to Kentucky,
becoming one of the pioneer residents of the northern part of that state and
an associate of Daniel Boone. He participated in fights with the Indians as
the companion of Boone and was a veteran of the War of 1812. He became a
stanch abolitionist and his home was a station on the famous underground
railroad, whereby many a negro was aided on his way to freedom in the north.
He died at the very notable old age of ninety-six years and had never
experienced a day's illness in his life. His remains were interred at
Greenfield, Ohio, and it was at that place that his granddaughter, Josephine
S. Scroggs, was born in the year 1840. She became the wife of Samuel G.
Lunbeck and to them were born three children. Mr. Lunbeck was devoted to the
welfare of his family and found his greatest happiness in promoting their
comfort. A devout Christian man, he was an active worker in the Presbyterian
church and his many sterling traits of character won for him the high regard
and confidence of all who knew him. Frank G. Lunbeck acquired his early
education in the schools of Missouri and afterward pursued a business course
in Quincy, Illinois. When a young man he embarked in the mercantile business
on his own account, in Warrensburg, Missouri, and there continued for twenty
years. In 1907 he came to Colorado, settling in Greeley. Previous to this
time he had been engaged in the bond investment business in St. Louis for
three years. After reaching Colorado he was very active in organizing the
Hickman-Lunbeck Grocery Company, to which he has since devoted all of his
attention, being active in the control of the financial end of the business
as its secretary and treasurer. The undertaking has proven a profitable one
from the beginning and its patronage has steadily increased, its ramifying
trade relations now covering a broad territory. The business methods of the
house will bear the closest investigation and scrutiny, and unfaltering
energy, close application and sound business discernment are features in the
growth of their trade. Mr. Lunbeck is also interested in the Greeley
Building & Loan Association, of which he is a director. In June, 1892, Mr.
Lunbeck was married to Miss Camille A. Christopher, who was born in Missouri
in 1869, a daughter of George K. and Elizabeth Christopher. Mr. and Mrs.
Lunbeck are members of the Presbyterian church, in the work of which they
take an active and helpful part, the former serving as chairman of its board
of trustees. He turns to fishing as his favorite pastime. A man of liberal
spirit and genial disposition, he is always courteous and obliging in
manner, and the genuine worth of his character has gained for him a circle
of friends that is constantly growing as the circle of his acquaintance
broadens. (contributed by judycarter(a)sonomacounty.com)

I descend from Nicholas Christopher who arrived in Va. about 1695.
Nicholas lived in Richmond, Spotsylvania, Orange, & Lunenburg Counties;
he died in Lunenburg Co. in 1753 or 1754. His wife was Ann or Anna.
I descend by the following male line:
David (about 1720 -1783 or 1784) married and Elizabeth (some evidence that
she was a Grigg)
William (about 1760 - 1820) (married Lucy Jones daughter of Richard Jones
of Halifax Co. Va.)
Richard (about 1792 -1863) married Martha Akins (who are her parents?)
William (about 1828 - 1903 or 1904) married a Eliza Barker (who are her
parents?)
John Franklin (1853 -1913) married Sarah (Sally) Frances Giles
Emmett (1902 - 1996) married Myrt Evans
Frank (1921 -1991) (married Inez Walker)
Most of the above dates are estimates.
I am searching for others who may descend from this line.
Also I am searching for the maiden names of the wives and
the parents of the wives of the older of the above males.
I am willing to share what little I know about the above.

In 1820, I see a Covy Christopher on a list that I have, living in Morgan

this the same Covy(ie) in all three listings? Covie in 1763 in Virginia,
1820 in Morgan County, Georgia, and as a winner of land in the 1827 lotto
while living in Walton County? I got a clip of the 1820 Morgan County
Census, and it's listed as a CORY, may be a mis-spelling?

Sarah Emma Kinsey b. 2/7/1886 who married James Thomas Christopher b. July
29, 1884 is not the same Emma Christopher who married a Willie Colthorp in
1891. Most likely the two Emma Christophers were related in some other way.
James Thomas Christopher was the son of John Washington Christopher and
Harriet Jane Williams both born Oktibbeha Co., Mississippi and settled in
Henderson County, Texas. His wife Sarah Emma Kinsey was the daughter of
George Preston Kinsey and Manda Grant Ivie both of Mudcreek, Habersham Co.,
Georgia and settled in Henderson County, Texas. Sarah Emma Kinsey and James
Thomas were my great-grandparents. They are buried in Walnut Creek
Cemetery, Henderson County, TX. Hope that this prevents any confusion.

Subject: SC Christopher connections
Look this over, this John D. Christopher should tie in with your group, let
me know if there are any places or names in here that mean anything to you.
Thanks,
David
I am also forwarding this message to others that may have interest in the
data, yall look it over for value. I feel sure that there is a connection
here with Ralph Griffin, and Buckner Griffin Christopher in Abbeville, and
we might be able to extend to the Christopher's that were in Spartanburg,
S.C. as well, below this info on John D. Christopher, I've listed some
information on William Christopher 1797 Orange County, N.C. These families
appear to all be connected, I just haven't sorted it out, which is where the
rest of yall come in, lets go through this data, compare it to what we have,
do some date, name, and place matching, and tie these Christopher's into the
lines they belong to, which I believe descends from Nicholas. A few of you
that get this message may not see any connection to what you are
researching.

to implementation of the Conscript Law that set age limits for service at 18

family relationship between Berry Anderson and John D. Christopher, possibly
a son-in-law, Can't find him (Berry) on the TX or GA census records. When
John joined he was a possibly a single father with 4 children ages abt. 17

Comments. Amelia age 33 f. on the 1850 Census appears to be a wife but she
is not present on the 1860 Census record. Nancy age 11 f. is not on the 1860
Census either. Nancy or Martha are old enough to be a wife of Berry Anderson
in 1862, but M.F. Christopher is addressed separately. Amelia is also old
enough but she married Joseph Ables in Hunt Co. TX on 30May1861.
I have been unsuccessful in finding records in published books or in
internet sources that identify a christopher marriage to an Amelia nor a
relationship to another Christopher in S.C. or Ga. or TX (except for his
descendants). I have been unsuccessful in tracking John D. since 29May1862.
I have been through the Hunt Co. Tx. deed books and cannot deeds recorded
for him even though he stated on the census that he owned land and he paid
taxes on land in 1861, he would have been excused from Hunt Co. taxes in
1862 for being a member of the CSA. Carrie Griffin Christopher DIL of A.R.D.
Christopher gave his full name as Abnir Rueben Drake Christopher in a
personal letter to me in 1986. Another descendant provided the full name of
John S. as John Stephen Christopher. I have found sources on the internet
that identify Sarah E. Christopher's full name as Sarah Elizabeth but
nothing I have gives more than the initial E. including Jasper Newton Rimmer
and Sarah E. Christopher Rimmer's family Bible that I possess. Hopefully
some of this information is of value to you. If it matches with any of your
information, I would certainly appreciate any clues are help you could
provide.

David,
William Christopher was married to Elizabeth Haley. She was the daughter of
my 8G Grandfather Edward Haley Sr.
See more details below.
My information comes from the book:
Haley History Heritage 1996 Doris Thornbro
Roswell NM
The Christopher's are listed on page 14.
There is one other Christopher listed in the book: Lavia Odell Christopher
of Chickasha Oklahoma. I met her at a family reunion about 12 years ago. I
know of no link between her and the previously mentioned Christophers. She
is married to Matthew Elliott - ironically no relation to me. She is page
146.
Hope that helps. Best of luck on your research. Let me know if you can find
a link to these people. I would be happy to include that information into my
records. I do not have an email address for Doris Thornbro, but I might be
able to locate a snail mail address if you want it.
Thanks! Bill Elliott - Houston TX
