In case some of the newer users have missed anything about the upcoming
reunion, this is a basic run down on it. I believe the planned dates for the
reunion are this coming June, the 15th-17th. So if yall are planning on
coming, do us all a favor and drop a $10 check or money order in the mail to
Linda so she can reserve the places that are needed for the reunion.
Thanks,
David
PS; If any of you that are not coming for whatever reason want to send in a
$10 donation towards the reunion, all donations are welcome.

David, I'm sorry to say the commitments and checks have been slow to this
point.
Soooooo Christopher Cousins, it's time to get on the ball. I need to know an
approximate number of people to plan for and make arrangements to reserve
meeting facilities.
I need your checks to make this happen. Most community centers and parks
require payment when you make your reservation. Donations from those who
can't attend would also be appreciated.
Again, my mailing address is: 10205 Henry Mill Road, Fairburn, GA 30213.
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in June. :-)
Linda
Looking for family members of Ebur and Alice Christopher:
On the 1880 Census they were living At Decorah, Iowa.
Ebur Christopher was 21 and Alice was 19. They had a daughter named May or
Mayme age 2 months. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Betty
I received this email from another List and wanted to pass it on to those who
are researching the Northeast. Unfortunately, there were no Christopher's
listed when I scanned through the years.
Linda
For over a year I have been working on posting an index of names for the
marriage and death notices printed in the Vermont Chronicle, an old newspaper
that was published between 1826 and 1896. The notices cover towns state
wide, and also cover other places, including, but not limited to:
Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island,
Canadian Provinces and beyond. The death notices are not full obituaries as
we know them today, but sometimes contain other useful information besides
the location, name and age of the person. The marriage notices usually just
note the bride and groom, but sometimes names of parents.
Currently I have the Indexes for 1826-1850 online, with more added as time
permits. You can find the indexes at:
http://www.middlebury.edu/~swilson/introvc.html
Thanks for your interest, hope it can help you in your searches.

I haven't sent my check to you yet on the reunion, sorry. I will get if off
to you in a day or two. I was wondering if you were getting any responses
from any of the others at this point? I am hoping that you'll tell me that
my check is the only one you haven't received, but that would be asking too
much. What kind of turnout are you seeing though? I don't even have a good
guess for how many people plan to come to the reunion, do you have any
ideas?
Thanks,
David

Since I am new to this and have a great deal to learn, I can't tell all
the tips and or tricks to using this message board. But just in general, I
have noticed that sometimes I get a message as a reply to something that I
sent out, but it really was meant to go to the board and not to me
personally. I understand why this happens, but haven't looked at a fix as of
yet, so let me tell you all what I do, first and foremost, in my ADDRESS
book I have one setup to send messages to the board, I suggest all users
have same. It should be: (without quotes) " CHRISTOPHER-L(a)rootsweb.com " ,
so make an address in your book like that and writing messages to the board
is a snap. Now to address doing a "REPLY" to a message that's already on the
board. If you want the reply to go to the PERSON that sent the message, no
problem, that's where its headed. On the other hand, if your REPLY has
content in it that you want on the "L" board, then that's ok, just click the
"Cc" line on your mail program before you send the message and send it to "
CHRISTOPHER-L ", then a copy of the message will come to the board for us
all.
Thanks
David Christopher

Not by leaps and bounds, but we are growing. Maybe it would be a good idea
for some of you that are new, or even some that are not, to post a message
about who you are researching. Who knows, someone may be waiting to send the
answer you are looking for.
Thanks,
David

I am looking over a paper that my good cousin Linda D'Allen had sent me a while back. It is a page out of Early Records of Georgia. This clip is about the land lottery of 1806 in Captain Sherrod Malones District, Wilkes County, Georgia. It says:
Draw
Robertson, Wm. trustee for
orph. of Benj. Christopher ..........................1
So what I am doing here is still struggling, trying to figure out who the 3 Christopher's were in Wilkes County in 1790, and how they were related. In 1790, in Wilkes County, Georgia, I show that there were 3 Christopher's there as part of a Militia. Ambrose, Benjamin, and William Christopher were all there and seemed to have a piece of land close to each other. I don't know what happened to them after that, maybe they sold the land and went back to where they came from, but by around 1795-6 they all seem to be cleared out. I figure the Ambrose to be the son of William of Charlotte County, grandson of Nicholas. Who are the two others around him? Are they brothers, cousins, or a combo of each? What I am trying to get to here, is in the autobiography of Rev. Ralph Griffin Christopher, who is a son of Ambrose Sr., he states " Some time after this (about 1806) I visited an aunt living in the state of Georgia, Greene County. I was pleased with my visit and thought I would perhaps some day come there to live and I think about the year 1807 or 1808 I left South Carolina for Georgia." Now he doesn't mention an uncle, so its easy to assume that maybe his aunt is a widow? And now, here's what I am trying to get to, there is an Elizabeth Christopher that is in Greene County at or around the turn of the century, and I believe she dies around 1827-29, I'd have to check my records on the date. I have a copy of her Will which was probated in Talaiferro County, which by the way, was made out of Greene, Hancock, Oglethorpe, Warren, and Wilkes Counties in 1825. So I believe that Elizabeth was in Greene County all the time, but that the County lines changed and when she died, it was then Taliaferro County. What I am hoping to try and prove, and I need ALL the help I can get, is how these people link together. Is it possible that Elizabeth was the wife of Benjamin? Could Benjamin have been maybe a David Benjamin, or Benjamin David, as one of my (should be) cousins says that she believes that Elizabeth was married to a David Christopher. I am going after Benjamin because, he was a Christopher who had land in that area and died sometime between 1790 and 1806, so it is with that thought that I am looking at the records trying to find more on Benjamin. I think this is possible, maybe Benjamin was a brother to Ambrose, died before 1806, and that his wife came and took over the land in Georgia that belonged to them, and when Ralph Griffin left Abbeville in 1806 and came to visit his Aunt in Greene County, that he came down and stayed with Elizabeth?
I know, its a long shot, but its all I have to go on at this time, maybe some of you will be able to dig up some more on the names and times I am talking about and help us further this?
Thanks,
David
PS: In 1799 thru 1802 a James Christopher shows up on the Tax records with Land in a Captain William Ogletree's District? The land is in Wilkes County on Hardins Creek, most of the claims on the paper are either Hardin's Creek, or Little River. I have a copy of a Deed abstract that was witnessed by Benj. Christopher back in 1790, it's like this:
Trawick, Francis and wife Ann of Wilkes County to Thomas Bartee of Cumberland County, Va., 2 tracts on south fork of Little River, containing 460 acres. Nov. 18, 1790. Thomas & Richard Watts, Benjamin Christopher, test.
Looking for family members of Ebur and Alice Christopher.
In the 1880 Census county of Winnebage, Town of Decorah, Iowa he is listed as
such:
Christopher Ebur age 21 , married, Occ. Tismister, born Iowa, parents born
Norway.
Christopher, Alice age 19, wife, keeping house, born Wis., Father born Ohio,
mother born Ill.
Christopher, May 2/12 daughter born Iowa.
May or Mayme is my Great Great Grandmother and I am looking for her family.
