Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
There is 1 Christopher (Millie E.) who sued to obtain Cherokee
citizenship in the late 1800's, claiming she was of Cherokee descent!
There is a huge, complete full name index of all these people at
http://members.aol.com/rarebk/
This should be a boon to researchers. When you are on the site, go to
the Booklists page, and then slowly scroll down past some old genealogy
book titles until you get to the Cherokee section. There are some
Cherokee genealogy books there, and one of them has this complete index
posted. Quite fascinating!
