Hello all,
An entry in the *Journals of the Senate and House of Commons of the General
Assembly of the State of North Carolina at its Session in
1836-37*pertaining to Lewis Yancey Christmas, my
great-great-great-grandfather, was
made on January 18, 1837 and reads as follows:
*The resignations of Daniel A. Paschall, as Major of the 88th Regiment of
Militia, and of Lewis Y. Christmas, as a Justice of the Peace of Warren
county, were presented, read, and accepted.*
You can view the original on Google Books:
http://books.google.com/books?id=7uIxAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA481&dq=%22Lewis+Y.+Chr...
This is the first document I have encountered that indicates Lewis Yancey
Christmas, a planter and attorney, served as a Justice of the Peace. While
this document tells of his resignation, I am interested in discovering when
his term as Justice of the Peace began.
Very Respectfully,
Mr. Shannon S. Christmas
