Herbert
Well, I am from the Thomas Christmas Line; he was born in 1689 & died in 1769 (Hanover Co, NC). I have an old e-mail filed away that says you are from the Johnathan Christmas line (from SC?) That is Herb Turner's line, too, isn't it? Even though you are not closely related to me, I bet there is a connection back there somewhere. And I'd love to have you come to the reunion. The reunion isn't just for the Thomas Christmas line, although many who came last year were from that line. All Christmases/Christmas descendants are invited. Some Christmases were there last year that I don't know how they fit in -- but we all had a good time. I had one guy who is on the Christmas mailing list and lives in England write that he hopes to come in 2012. Isn't that exciting? Herb Turner said he would have liked to come last year but he had scheduled a weekend get-away with his kids, grandkids, and he said it is so hard to get them all together
that he didn't want to cancel. I can understand that. I haven't heard from him about the 2012 reunion. A Hunter Johnson, who is not in my line, (he's the guy who sent the attachment for me) also said he'd like to come but he has to wait until he gets his wife's & kids' schedules before he commits. I looked him up in Herb's files, but don't remember where he fits in now -- I'm thinking maybe he was in the S.C. line. I hope you decide to come to the reunion. Where do you live? -- Donna

The mailing list server automatically strips out attachments.
You'll need to use a file sharing service (e.g., Dropbox). I happen to have
a Dropbox account -- if you'd like to send it to me directly (
hunter(a)hunterandlori.com or jhunterj(a)gmail.com) I'll upload it and send
back a link to the list.
Or it's possible there's a way to do it at rootsweb, but I don't know what
that would be.
Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Hi all,
I am writing to encourage as many Christmas gentlemen as possible to
participate in the Christmas Y-chromosome DNA project. It is actually a
part of the Christopher DNA Project (
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/christopher/results); at least two
Christmases (including yours truly) are currently participating. David
Christmas has already tested and has agreed to join the project as well.
Since Family Tree DNA, the company that administers the surname project
testing, is having a sale from now until December 31 (
http://www.familytreedna.com/), now is an excellent time to participate and
help sort out the Christmas family lines.
David Christmas and I compared results and confirmed that he and I come
from two very distinct Christmas lines from Cambridgeshire, England and
Surrey County, England, respectively. David's results also appear to match
the one other Christmas participant in the project. My results appear to be
a part of a seemingly rare subgroup which I am investigating further.
Anyone who is interested should look at ordering Family Tree DNA's Y-DNA
37-marker or Y-DNA 67-marker test (
http://www.familytreedna.com/y-dna-compare.aspx). If you have questions,
feel free to contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Very Respectfully,
Mr. Shannon S. Christmas
Hi- what about the other unidentified marker in the cemetery that seemed to
have no name?

Subject: [CHRISTMAS] NOVEMBER UPDATE: LYC/William Christmas Cemetery
Dear Christmas Family:
Finally... we've made some headway in cleaning up the William Christmas
Cemetery.
I spoke with Mark "Tony" Toler this morning of Toler Monuments and he told
me:
--He cleaned the briars and weeds
--He straightened the head stones that lay inside the wall
--The headstone outside the wall is beyind repair.
--He recommends a new headstone
--Sunken areas can be filled in.
Is anyone near enough to the William Christmas Cemetery to stop by to have a
look? If not, I can ask Mr.Toler for photos.
I asked what his fee was for work done thus far-- $100.00. I will send a
postal money order next week since the address he uses is a post office box.
Please think about what our next step should be.
Thanks for your continued patience.
Be well,
Dale

I'm interested about the photo album from Jeff. I have 2 William Christmas
in my family but no William Henry also I live in Norwich, Norfolk. They
were both christened in 1826, one in Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire & the
other in bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire. My ancestors didn't seem to go in
for 2 Christian names for their children. Does he have any more names I can
check ? Regards Lois

If someone could scan it in and post it online that would make it
accessible to everyone who might be descended from this William
Christmas. What a find!

Hi Dale,
Below are the directions to the graves of Lewis Yancey Christmas and Jane
Yancey Christmas Green (better known as the William Christmas Cemetery). The
directions assume one is driving south on State Road #1001 from Warrenton
proper.
"Directions to cemetery: Travel from Warrenton on State Road #1001 -
Martin Luther King Blvd. for 3.1 miles. Turn right onto Cooper Drive.
Go one tenth mile and turn left. Travel a short distance to cemetery
on right - It is enclosed with a rock wall and abandoned in a clump of
small trees, vines, and briars."
Thanks for helping with this much needed project.
Very Respectfully,
Shannon
