Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Do you all who are doing the DNA testing, have some simple translation for
the results - I don't have a clue what this data means.
Thanks,

Hi Everyone,
Some of you already have the "Genetic Hunt A" document from Mr. Henry
Christmas as a result of the Oxford Ancestors surname study done in
England a few years ago. According to Mr. Henry Christmas of the UK,
the specific DNA markers for the UK Y-chromosome Christmas surname
study (not included in the Genetic Hunt document previously
circulated) were as follows:
"The 5 in the Surrey group are similar and my DNA Is 14 12 24 11 13 13
9 15 12 12
The other 4 in the [Essex] group are similar 14 14 22
10 11 13 9 16 12 11"
Aside from what Henry and Oxford Ancestors reported, my 23andMe
results indicate that my Y-Chromosome haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a2f. The
Oxford Ancestors test results suggest a 10-marker STR test was used.
23andMe's testing format does not report STR markers but instead SNPs,
disallowing comparison with the Oxford Ancestors test results.
Surprisingly, no haplogroups appear to have been reported as part of
the UK testing.
Very Respectfully,
Shannon
Thanks, Tanya.
Have I missed out on this offer or has it been offered again? I seem to
recall that it closed within a few hours of me being notified in New Zealand
While you're awake, we're asleep so time within a short time apan of the
offer can be lost that way.
Ray

Dear Betty,
This somehow got into my 'drafts' folder and I've only just found it as I
prepare 'housekeeping' to swap/changeover to my new laptop.
I seem to remember an impression I formed back on April 26th, when this
offer seemed to be going nowhere (at least from my point of view, down under
here in New Zealand) due to
premature time expiry that couldn't be met, that it may have been a bit-of-a
hoax.
Please inform.
Kind regards,
Ray in New Zealand.
