Hi Ray,
I too have Christmas's in my tree, but I have not as yet done anything about
them. I have a great great aunt and uncle (Harold smith and his sister
Ireen) (they are 2 of 11 children the first being born in 1904 the last
1921, I don’t know where they fit in date wise yet). Harold and Ireen
married a brother and sister (Alice and Joseph Christmas). The Smith's were
born in Wokingham Berkshire UK. Ireen and Joseph stayed in Wokingham and
according to family died here too. Harold and Alice I am told lived and
died in Lightwater Surrey UK. I do not know where the Christmas's were born,
but if you could shed any light onto any of this I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Mandy

Subject: [CHRISTMAS] Soon to un-subscribe
Dear Listers & Administrator,
I am unfortunately going to have to temporarily un-subscribe for 4 weeks, in
about 3 days' time whilst away on holiday up north in the 'winterless north'
of the North Island of New Zealand.
However, I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me in finding any
CHRISTMASes (or variations like CHRESTEMESSE, CHRESTEMASSE, CRISMAS,
CRISTMAS and, to way back in 1243 jousting at a tournament, somewhere in
Kent, CRYSTMASSE (could it have been at Chilham or maybe Canterbury? The
King's herald's drawings of him in his regalia held in the Brit Library
doesn't say), jousting against one PECTHE.
CHRISTMASSes spread out into Kent with evidence of being buried in the
church at Sutton Valence, just over the county boundary into Sussex and also
being flour-mill owners near Edenbridge. There was one an archer for Henry
V at the battle of Agincourt.
I have traced my tree back to COBHAM in Surrey in 1640, and I believe that
they came out of neighbouring HAMPSHIRE.
Linking back to Kent is the problem.
Kind regards,
Ray Christmas, in NEW ZEALAND, where, after an 'Indian Summer', we have
suddenly returned to the tail-end of Autumn.

I stand corrected - one of my 2 lines (that I have really been working a lot
is the from my Great Grandmother, Rosanna Christmas
married to John McHenry Christmas -
I am not sure which one of
these lines is decendended from The
Queen of England -
I'm inclined to believe it is the other one I am working on right now -
I will let you all know
Love,

Some thought and/or information for you, sweet friend:
Elizabeth Plantagenet, Queen of England, born 1466
had a Son, Henry Tudor -Her Parents were:
Edward King England
1442-1483
Elizabeth Wydeville
1437-1492
His Parents were:
Richard Plantagenet
1411-1460
Cecily Neville
1415-1495
His Parents were:
Richard Plantagenet
1376-1415
Anne Mortimer
1390-1411
I am related through 2 different branches in my families -
It was not the Christmas Line
at all - I thought it was but was not.
One from my Daddy and one from my Great Grandmother in another line -
There were many Queen Elizabeth's - I go back to the original so guess I'm a
descendant of all -
By the way, I remember some Birds and/or Byrds in one of my lines - so
Thanks for your interest, Cousin

Two thoughts:
Most estimates place the number of Americans that are royal descendants of
British monarchs between 2 and 3 million.
Second, I am afraid that you cannot be a direct descendant of Queen
Elizabeth I, because she did not have any children. Her last name was
Tudor, not Plantagenet. Are you confusing her with Elizabeth of York, Queen
Elizabeth's grandmother, who married Henry VII?
- I found out last night that me, my Kids & Grandkids are
>direct
>descendants to Queen Elizabeth Plantagenet -
> ELIZABETH PLANTAGENET
> Queen of England
>I am the 14th Great Granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth -This comes from my
>Daddy's Mother -
>Of course, I suppose we could all trace our roots back to Royalty in
>England
>especially if you are decendants of
>the 2 TILLY brothers who both "came over" on the Mayflower -from where the

I've been working like mad on Genealogy - There are so many mistakes in
the Census - it's unreal - couldn't find my Maternal Grandparents whose name
was Hudson - by some miracle - I found them and their name in the census was
Kidson - unbelievable -I corrected it - you can do that - I also signed "up"
to help
with mistakes - I found out last night that me, my Kids & Grandkids are
direct
descendants to Queen Elizabeth Plantagenet -
ELIZABETH PLANTAGENET
Queen of England
I am the 14th Great Granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth -This comes from my
Daddy's Mother -
Of course, I suppose we could all trace our roots back to Royalty in England
especially if you are decendants of
the 2 TILLY brothers who both "came over" on the Mayflower -from where the
Royalty came "from"
I love you all,
Helen

Shirley,
Some time ago I checked individual counties for post cards from the area.
This site is fabulous. All of the information collected in one place.
I was intending to send scans of my Rock Island, Illinois post card
collection, but it looks like almost every card I have has been included.
Thanks for telling us about the site.
