Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Welcome Darlene and Susanne,
Altho I have not been active for some time, I wish you the best of luck. Also
you will find some great people here on the list.

Hi Dudley,
I show the Richard Thomas Christmas that married your Mary Margaret Sims to
be the
son of Thomas Christmas and Rebecca Colyer/Collier of LA. I show a second
marriage
for this Richard Thomas Christmas to Elizabeth Howell, which produced a
son, Charles
Thomas; this info came from the FHC.
Where the Thomas Christmas that married Rebecca Colyer/Collier is connected
to the
Thomas Christmas of Hanover, VA I do not know. This has been a mystery a
number
of people have worked on for years, but no proof of connection has been
found, to the
best of my knowledge.
The Richard Christmas you mention, does descend from Thomas Christmas of
Hanover.
However, this has been a most confusing line to me, even with a lot of help
from Ginger,
Philip Norfleet, you and others. Everything I have is on the web page,
Follow Thomas,
Thomas, Thomas, or click on the link below.

You might also want to read the notes for Mary Ann Hilliard, wife of Thomas3.

Herbert, My last Christmas ancestor was Sarah Ann (b. 1715), a daughter of
Thomas Christmas of Hanover, VA. She married Benjamin Sanders. I stay on
the roll in hopes of finding out something about Thomas. Meanwhile, when I
run across a Christmas, I'll report the find, even if everyone else already
knows. Recently in searching for a g-g-grandfather, George P. Jones in
Issaquena County, MS, I came across a Richard Christmas, age 45, birthstate,
N. Carolina. He owned 109 slaves. No wife or children lived with him,
unless that is, his overseer's wife, Susan was Richard's daughter. I was
interested because my great grandfather, William R. Sims, of Wilkinson
County, MS, had a sister, Mary Margaret, who married a Richard T. Sims in
1833. They had two daughters, both of whom were dead by 1840. Mary herself
died in 1837. Nevertheless, I've been curious about what happened to
Richard. HAve I just found the same Richard in Issaquena county? I don't
know. Dudley Hinds

Herbert,
Would you supply me the email address of Laurie Davis Hannah, who supplied to
you additional information on Mary Aline Baker, daughter of Jesse Hinton
Baker and Martha Christmas?
Dot
Finally got the Christmas Families web page updated on June 20; it includes
a lot of info from
the 1920 & 1930 census records, plus new Christmas cousins, and photos. Web
address is:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~research/index.htm
A word about photos. we show more individuals with a photo, but due to
space limitations,
only one photo per individual. Hopefully I can have this space problem
solved by the Fall
Update. Another problem with only showing the one/default photo, is the
heading/caption
for the photo is not included. This is where I referenced those that shared
their family photos.
Please visit the web page, and let me know of any broken links, errors of
content and
omissions.
Again, my sincere thanks to those of you that have helped in correcting
errors, and adding to
our web page.
Herbert
