Please keep my name on your list. I enjoy reading the communications, even
tho' my husband is a "shirttail" relation at best. His great-great
grandfather, John "Jack" JENKINS was a younger brother of Elizabeth Ford
JENKINS who married William CHRISTMAS.
Thanks.

Hi,
I also would like to stay on the list.
Moses Christmas (I) 1784--1819
Moses Christmas (Sr.) 1814--1885
Moses Christmas (Jr.) 1843--1907
Vicie Christmas "Jackson" 1876--1916
Thomas A. Jackson 1909--1971
Sandra Jackson "Rowe"
These are my Christmas"es.
Nina Christmas sent this to me a couple years ago:
"I had ordered a copy of a Social Security application for Thomas Christmas,
thinking it was my husband's grandfather, Thomas Nollie Christmas.
It came today and as far as we know, there is no connection to our line. Hope
it can help someone else.
Name of Applicant: Thomas Edward Christmas
Date of Birth July 17, 1875
Place of Birth Calvert TX (Robertson Co)
Father's Full Name: Edward Junius Christmas
Mother's Maiden
Name Rebecca Caroline More
The interesting thing about this is that this man was born on July 17, 1875.
My husband's grandfather, Thomas Nollie Christmas was also born on
July 17, 1875 in Bremond, Robertson County Texas. They're maybe 20
miles apart if that much. Coincidence - or another piece of the puzzle that
we didn't know about?"
Was able to connect Edward Junius Christmas as son of Robert L. Christmas
of the Sumter Dist., SC, Robert's line is Caleb, Nathan, John, Jonathan.
The family of Robert L. Christmas has been a hard one to trace. From Census
info,
it shows Edward Junius Christmas having several siblings, and two of them being
Adella, b. 1848 & Frances, b. 1853.
In looking at some TX Marriage Records, noticed the following:
TX Marriage Index, 1851-1900:
Christmas, Adele Married: Nov 19, 1872 in: Robertson, TX Gender:
F Source info: microfilm reference numbers
File name: 0963255 through 0963256 Spouse's gender: M Spouse's name:
Wells, John
Christmas, Fannie Married: Nov 19, 1872 in: Robertson, TX Gender:
F Source info: microfilm reference numbers
File name: 0963255 through 0963256 Spouse's gender: M Spouse's name:
Sewari, Ikey
Just a possibility for anyone researching this family.
Theophilus Henry Christmus: - line: Ephraim, John, Jonathan of SC
1850 Census, Rutherford Co., NC, Dwelling # 1047, Theopolus, age 21,
Baptist Minister; wife, Cynthia, 21; M.A., 2 F & N. J., 1/12 F.
A Theophilus Christmus (spelled with a U) of Blount Co., AL was
granted/purchased, Certificate # 26.085 (26.a85) 80 & 20/100 acres of
land by the Federal Register of Lands Office at Huntsville, AL on March
5, 1858. "Document number: 26085 Description number: 1
Number of acres: 80.2100 Accession number: AL3830__.118
Patentee Surname: Christmas Patentee given name: Theophilus
State name: Alabama Volume: 3830 Page number: 118
Land office: Huntsville"
A Theop Christmas appeared on the Trinity Co., TX Census, p. 33;1
Sumpter P.O. Federal Population Schedule TX 1860 Federal Census
Index TX39118679
Several years ago, Elizabeth Smith Burden, shared information on this line.
Recently, I ran across this AL land grant, thought this family moved from
NC straight to TX, but looks like a stop in AL, if this is same person.
Note the land grant spells Christmas with a U - Christmus; the same as other
descends of Ephraim.
Hope this helps.

Hi
Our Christmas connection begins with Cuthbert Brookes Christmas being born in
December 1854 to James and Mary Christmas in Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch,
Middlesex, England. In December 1882 Cuthbert Brookes married Louisa Ann
Gillings at St SAndrews Church in Islington, Middlesex, England. Louisa
Ann's father was George Gillings a hammerman. Cuthbert Brookes father, who
was by then deceased was a silversmith. In gthe 1881 Census Cuthbert Brooke
was shown to have a brother, Ernest and a sister Sarah F living at home.
I would like to know who about Mary's family and who was William Christmas
who was a witness at Cuthbert Brooke and Louisa Ann's wedding along with his
sister Sarah Frances. I have a scanner and so can send copies of the two
certificates I currently have if anyone is interested.

Does anyone know who this Phillip Christmas was?????

Howdy folks,
My name is Tom Lloyd and I descend from Jonathan,
John, Nathan, Nathan, Daniel John, Daniel John,
Randall, Joyce.
I am presently working on other lines, but want to
remain on the list. I have been fortunate to come
across some little Christmas nuggets in my travels
while working on other lines.
The first nugget refers to Jeremiah "Jerry" Christmas
b. 1834, brother of my gggrandfather, Daniel John
Christmas b. 1835. The book "Biographical Rosters of
Florida Confederate and Union Soldiers, 1861-1865"
states that Jerry died of disease in 1863 in
Chattanooga, Tenn. The original has the precise date
of his death, but I can't find the copy I made.
Secondly, while researching another family line in
Gonzales Co., Texas, I discovered that there was a
Christmus family that lived in the area. The info. I
found was in the "History of Gonzales Co., Texas".
>From the Christmas family CD, I see that Theophilus
Christmus has already been researched, and the article
that is quoted from the North Carolina county history
book is similar to and written by the same
individual-Elizabeth Smith Burden-who wrote the
article for the piece in the Gonzales book. BTW, there
is an original picture of Theophilus in the Gonzales
book, which the microfilm copier didn't copy very
well.
The third item that I came across-a marriage
contract-was found in the Houston Co., Georgia deed
records and it refers to Celia Christmas, wife of
Nathan Christmas b.1770, who was married to John
McCoy.
Georgia
Houston County} This Indenture of these parts, made
and entered into this day. Witnesseth, that John
McCoy, of the county aforesaid of the first part,
Celia Christmas of Dooly County, and Charles Spradley,
of the county last aforesaid, all of the state of
Georgia, the two first named parties here entered into
a marriage contract here after to be solemnized
between the said John McCoy and the said Celia
Christmas. In consideration of the said contract the
said John and Celia do severally covenant grant and
agree that the following property, to wit; a Negro
woman named Charlotte, about twenty five years of age;

years old; William, a boy about two years old; one
sorrel mare; two cows and calves; seven head of hogs;
household and kitchen furniture, all now in the
possession of the said Celia and all other property
she may acquire by bequest, purchase, or as Heir at
law, shall form and remain the separate property and
Estate of the said Celia, and shall not, in Law, or
Equity, be subject to the payment of any debt of any
kind now owing by the said McCoy, or that may
hereafter be contracted by him, or by him to be
disposed of any way, or manner whatever; But the title
of the said property and estate herein before
described and mentioned, shall vest and be in the said
Charles Spradley, as Trustee, for the use and benefit
of the said Celia Christmas. And it is further
covenanted and agreed to by the first named parties
that they are mutually during their natural lives to
enjoy the proceeds arising from the said property and
after the death, the said first named parties, the
property herein before named and appointed to descend
go to and become the property of the children of the
said Celia to be, by them, shared equally, share and

to herself the right to dispose of any or all of the

testament. And the said John and Celia do hereby
appoint the said Charles, trustee, for the purpose
aforesaid, to carry into effect the purposes of this
instrument and the said Charles assenting to be
accepting said trust by signing this instrument.

I have the source---It is Ray's Index and Digest to Hathaway's...North
Carolina Historical and Geneological Register...with Geneological Notes and
Annotations, compiled and edited by Worth S. Ray, Baltimore Geneological
Publishing Co, Inc. 1979
p.32 " JONATHAN CHRISTMAS was also from York County, Virginia, a descendent,
possibly even a grandson of old DOCTORIS WILLIAM CHRISTMAS, of Yorktown,
whose will was proven in 1654, witnessed by Peter Starkey, ancestor of the
Starkeys who went down into North Carolina. It seems reasonable that Peter
Starkey was son-in-law of Doctoris Christmas, of Yorktown, and that the
distinguished Starkeys of North Carolina may have acted as the magnet that
brought hither this Jonathan Christmas. William Christmas was a noted
landscape architect and city planner in the in the old North State Capitol,
Raleigh. Robert Christmas, of this same clan, migrated to the state of
Georgia, following the American Revolution, where he was one of the members
of the Court in Greene County before whom the trial of Elijah Clarke was
held, who was charged with some irregularities, which the court saw fit to
waive in favor of the gallant old revolutionary patriot."
This was sent to me by a geneologist in North Carolina who located for me the
information on Theophilus Christmus, my gggrandfather. Maybe this will
help some one. Joan

Hi Teresa McMillan,
We have a MOUNT CHRISTMAS in New Zealand (NZ) but I have yet to find out how
it got its name.
We have many sreets in different cities named after Christmas but no lakes
as yet, but you never know.
I, as an engineer have been promoting a recreational watersports lake for
our city for 15 years now with very little progress. The next step is to
form a lake trust

As always, many thanks to Cousin Herbert for his tireless efforts in
our family history and genealogy. Please keep me on the list.
In addition to more information on how our lines connect with European
lines (#4) I have another information request.
As a descendant of Lewis Yancey Christmas and slave mistress "Yellow
Jennie/Jinnie", I would like to know more about how Jennie, my ggg-gm,
was acquired by the Christmas family. She and other slaves were the
property of Mary L. Christmas. (How did this occur?) The following is
an excerpt* from the the Last Will and Testament of Mary L. Christmas
to her brother Lewis Yancey:
"...Secondly: I give to my Brother Lewis Y. Christmas all my portion
and interest of in the tract of land called the Dowin? tract, on which
my mother now lives - also the following negroes with their future
increase, viz Yellow Jinny, AnnMarie, and Eliza."
(*This is edited from an email written by William Christmas
(wcmrc(a)yahoo.com) to Herbert dated 3 March 2000.)
I posted this to the list some time ago. Thank you to Richard
Christmas for his response back then. If anyone has any other research
strategies for me, please advise.
Peaceful journeys,
Dale

No, mine stops here with Jonathan, but I have an excerpt from an early
geneological work that states that Doctoris Christmas of Va, was probably
Jonathan's grandfather. I will look it up and quote it on the mailing list.
If so, he was born in England and that would be the English connection. Joan
HI Ray,
This Roll Call is very interesting!
Nice to meet you, Ray. I am Joyce Truitt, my mother is Golda
Christmas.I live in southern Indiana, near the OHio River.
I have a distant cousin, Dana Huntnance, who lives on the North
Island, in Fielding, NZ. She is related to me through Tecumseh, the
War Chief of the Shawnee Nation.
So, now I have two cousins in New Zealand. :)
