Please welcome Mary Lou as a new member of our list. I like to ask anyone,
that has search the SC records, if they have seen a Richard Christmas, born
bet. 1785-1795. This looks like the Richard Christmas, son of William
Christmas & Elizabeth Jenkins, that married Peggy Cox, but the census says
Richard was born in SC. Below is some information from Mary Lou:
Hi Herbert,
Just to check in and let you know I am still trying to find my Christmas
family roots!! Would like to be put on the mailing list, please..
1850 ---Sebastian County Arkansas Census --- Surgar Loaf Township
Christmas, Richard Sr, m 55 farmer SC
Margaret f 50 KY
Eliza f 18 TN
Elizabeth f 16 TN
Robert m 13 ARK
Dice f 17 TN
Daniel m 5/12 ARK
Hill, John m 40 TN farmer
Margaret f 20 TN
Charles m 5/12 ARK
Dwyer, John O. m 18 TN Mill Worker
Walters, M. m 20 TN Laborer
Christmas, Richard G.,Jr. m 23 farmer TN
This is the order they were on the Census.. I suspect that Dice is the
mother of Daniel since she was out of order in the age bracket.. Also
Margaret would have been 50 years old or so..
Do not find this Christmas family in Arkansas in 1860 wonder if they went
back to Tennessee for the War Between The States??
I do find Richard G. Christmas,Jr. on the Census in 1870 in Sugar Loaf
Township Sebastian Township
Christmas, Richard G.,Sr. m 85 farmer SC
He is not far from his daughter Margaret and her Hill family and her
husband is now signing his name A J Hill
he dropped the John for some reason..
I found in searching this information: Kentucky Marriages Date: 12 January
1815
Christmas, Richard b.1793 NC to Cox, Peggy b.???
daughter of William Cox and Elizabeth Jenkins
