Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I'm a new member of the list. Thank you Herbert.
I have some Christmas material from one researcher this week.
I received, yesterday, from Betty Oliver who isn't on the internet,
a copy of the 1850 census of Harrison County Miss, placing Issac
Christmas family in that county during it's 1850 census date?.
If someone can find a better microfilm to copy I'd like to have a clearer
copy to fill in the question marks.

My 2G great-grandmother was Francis Christmas from Van Zante
Co. Texas. I think the male Francis listed above is my grandmother,
considering who the Christmas family was in Van Zante Co.
On another census 1870 Francis spelled her name Francis as a male
there too. I think she was marked a farmer and male in error.
I'm now searching for Francis's death cert. We have a cousin who
claims he seen her as a small child. He was born in 1923. Francis
would have been very old at that time since she was born around
1830/1831. If I can find the death cert. I hope it identifies Issac
as Francis's father. Francis married Miss born John Williams.
(? Richard Williams brother?)
Also Betty states, that Rebecca Christmas's husband, Richard
Williams. witnessed Benjamin Issac's Confederate pension application.
In the application Richard said he lived in Canton Texas in 1861
and he meet Benjamin at the age of 2. Betty also stated the application
stated Benjamin Christmas was born in Baton Rouge Parish, La. and
that Richard Williams was born in Lauderdale Co. Miss. I have noticed
in some information Richard Williams is marked as born in NC.
I have not had time to read through the Confederate pension apps and
all of Betty's material. It will be about a week before I can..
The material shows Benjamin in Van Zante County, Kaufman CO.,
Brown CO. and Eastland CO. Texas.
Betty is a descendant of John Calhoun Christmas who married
Mary (J)ane Anderson. Betty said the Collier middle name should
be Calhoun. John Calhoun Christmas and Mary Jane Anderson
married and lived in San Saba. Some have shown John's middle
name as Collier. John was Betty's Great Grandfather.
Since Mary Jane Anderson is a descendant from the same Anderson
line in Garrard Co. Ky after Louisa Co. Va, as I am. I have Mary
Jane Anderson Christmas's Anderson lineage back to 1740 if someone
needs it. This Anderson lineage is well documented. Mary Jane
descends from Archelus Anderson and Elizabeth Parrish son Garland
where I'm from their son John Anderson (and Susan Naylor) line.
The Anderson Lineage is on the internet at:
http://www79.pair.com/adunits/family/
www79(dot) --not-- www(dot)79
Thats all I have for now.
I hope this is of help to someone.

Good Morning Christmas Family Members,
Finally, I got the web pages for Jonathan Christmas of SC updated today;
Thomas Christmas of Hanover Co., VA was updated the end of May; will begin
working on the other lines and hope to have them updated in a couple weeks.
These updates include photos and docs sent in by Doug, Richard, Tom and
others. To give you an idea of how the photos/docs tie in and look on the
web pages, I have selected a few pages you can go to directly with the
below links; click on "SCRAPBOOK" to go to photos/docs. As my ISP is slow,
I realize I need to work on photo/doc size, but any feedback will be
appreciated.

William G. Christmas: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~research/jccg12.htm#196
William Anderson Christmas:

If you click on his daughter, Sadie, you will find my mug shot; my family
nickname is Buddy.

Also on this page is Mary Rosalie Christmas & Walter Earl Tevault.

Please welcome Ray as a new member of the Christmas List. Ray is trying to
connect family members of Issac Christmas - wife, Nancy, thought to be son
of Thomas Christmas & Rebecca (Collier) Colyer of LA. Children of Issac and
Nancy are Rebecca Mary, Benjamin S,. William, Martha m. Henry Brannan &
Francis m. John Williams.
Issac was born in LA and moved to TX around 1854 according to Ray. If any
member has information on this family, please share it. Thanks.
You can find English census through a Mormon Family History Center. Most of
the Irish Census data burned up in a fire in Dublin in the 1920s. Good
luck. Dudley

Hello fellow Christmas researchers,
I'm new at this game so please help me. Is there a way to get
English or Irish census reports on the internet? If not, how do I find the
information when I'm on the west coast of Canada. Would a big library have
them? Thanks for your expert advice.

I have a subscription to this and use it a lot__FREE for a short while and

Hello, Australia!
My apologies, guess it would be best to say "searching for Christmases who
left England/Ireland for parts unknown......." : )
Sorry, no knowledge of those who left Cambridgeshire nor who went to
Australia, but, if I learn of any, I'll pass it on.
Marlene
Marlene and fellow listers,
Many thanks for giving us a little information about yourself as a genealogist and fellow Christmas researcher but I felt obliged to let you know that actually all of us haven't spent time studying the early Christmas' to America.
I live in Australia and am studying a Christmas line from Bottisham, Cambridgeshire, in England.
Have you ever found any migrating from this area to America?
Anyone else looking in this area by any chance.
Regards,
Sharon.

Herbert,
My wife has been having treatment for cancer off and on since we first joined the list. There is no time to do reasearch right now. We would still like to stay on the list.
Anthony
I also want to remain on the list. I missed the original question (was there
one?) about being removed from the list.
Thanks so much.

First, all members of the Christmas List will remain on the list; you do
not have to write. I am not going to let you get off the list that easy;
the only way to get off is to send that "unsubscribe" message. I am also
tickled to hear from so many Christmas List members; wish the list had more
activity; if anyone has suggestions or would like to help, drop me a note.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and your research is going well.
Second, I think I made a cardinal mistake in my recent message to the list.
I co-mingled subjects and was not clear in my request. What I was trying to
say is as follows:
We have a Researcher's Page on the web with the names and email addresses
of those researching certain lines. I am updating the "Researcher's Page"
on the web and would like to know if those on it wanted to stay listed, and
for those Christmas List members not on the Researcher's Page, if you would
like to be listed.
It is my hope that those listed on the Researcher's Page, have made
contacts with other researching their particular line. Before I started
using Personal Ancestral File to do the web pages, I could add the
researcher's name and email address at the end of the web page. Now I
cannot do that, without a lot of time consuming hand work, so I request
those that browse our web pages to visit the Researcher's Page, to see
others researching that particular line. It is just another small step in
trying to connect researchers. The link to the Researcher's page is near
the bottom of the Christmas Families Home Page.
I should have the web updates finished by the end of the month, so again,
if there is anything you want corrected, changed, add to, deleted, etc.,
please let me know.
Herbert
I am Ginger Christmas-Beattie the daughter of James Lloyd Christmas - son of
Robert Lloyd Christmas - son of Buckner Franklin Christmas - son of Buckner
Davis Christmas - son of Thomas H. Christmas - son of William Christmas - son
of Thomas Christmas - son of John Christmas - Son of Thomas Cross Christmas
of Hanover Co. VA - son of Charles Christmas - Son of Richard Christmas - son
of Goodman Christmas.
I started the idea of the roll call and thought I should let you know where I
came from. I live in Oregon and have researched the Christmas families for
over 25 years. I have correspondence with the Jonathan Christmas line and
have had for over 25 years. At one time we all researched all lines until we
found two separate lines in America. I still keep records on both American
lines and have correspondence with the English lines.

Herbert, may I be added to the Researcher's Page as:
Marlene Christmas McLean (Marvin 7, Jerry Oliver 6, Nathan Alexander 5,
Caleb or Nathan 4, Nathan 3, John 2, Jonathan 1)
If we haven't met, I'm Marlene and I live in Miami, Florida. I've been doing
Christmas research for fun for almost 20 years. I corresponded with Howard
Christmas and Ginger and supplied information for the first Christmas
Newsletter for which Howard and Ginger served as editors. I still have copies
of these first newsletters as well as a lot of Howard Christmas' original
research. I mostly have approached the name Christmas as a one-name study and
find it a great challenge to see how each branch of the family fits together.
Presently, I'm concentrating on the Christmases in Hamilton County, FL (my
father's birthplace). I also have spent a lot of time on the early
Christmases to America (haven't we all!) and trying to bridge the gap between
North and South Carolina.
Isn't it wonderful to keep in touch and learn about each other on the
internet_I surely appreciate all the work Herbert does to keep us all
organized!
