We have published the researcher's guidebooks to surnames in Warren County, North
Carolina from 1780 to 1805 !
Our Books have a NEW LOOK all of our books will be in "perfect binding" from now
on. The Perfect binding is that of the average paperback book binding and they
will be 8.5 X 11 with 200 pages each. We hope this will be more user friendly.
Warren County, North Carolina Minutes to the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions
Volume I through V are transcribed from the original documents and fully indexed,
they also include a glossary of terms unique to the judicial system or the time
period of each volume. We have also included a period map of North Carolina and
calendars for the years covered in each volume. Each book contains about 200
pages of valuable information to the researcher in your library. They will
enhance your North Carolina section by providing hundreds of Surnames and local
history of the people and the workings of the fledgling county from 1780 through
1805.
The Minutes to the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions is the lowest court of
record in the Warren County, North Carolina area. This court met every three
months throughout the year. From a researcher's point of view the names of more
people will appear here more than any other single source of records and some
names will only appear here. There are deeds that are proved and registered,
administration of wills that are presented and proved, intestate records, the
construction of county roads and bridges across waterways, the licensing of
taverns and eating houses, the Tax officials and their Districts among other
things.
These 8 ½ X 11 books are in Perfect Binding and include ISBN and LCN numbers.

> Here are some more marriage's that I can't place for sure.
> Rosa Christmas married Commodore Kelley 29 Sep 1920
The only one I can positively identify is the one above. She was my
grandmother, Rosa Callis, widow of John William, who was the son of William
Jasper. She outlived Commodore Kelley and married William Christopher Abbott
on 1 May 1923. She out lived him also.
Welcome to the new members and I too have been very busy. The new book will be
out by the end of May.

First I want to welcome the new members! Kim, Jeremy, Stan and Judy.
Also, I found some marriage records in Warrick Co., In 1860-1940 that were
interesting. There were no parents with these marriages which made it
difficult to be sure. I will list them here but I can't say anything
positive .....(just thinking :-))
Page 452 (in the workbook) Frank Christmas married Nellie Grace Peek 13
Sept 1924. In this record it has Nellie Grace Cobb. ?? I donno...
Page 420. Polly Ann (Poliana ?) Christmas born 1836 married Marion Osborn
16 Oct 1862 (I'm not at all sur this is the same person, maybe someone will
know)
Page 449. Lucy Christmas d/o William Jasper Christmas married Edward Gore
16 Agu 1896 (Lucy was such a common name among the Christmas' I dont know
this for sure either)
Page 493. Willard Christmas married minnie House. In this marriage record
it spells her name HOWES ?
Here are some more marriage's that I can't place for sure.
Rosa Christmas married Commodore Kelley 29 Sep 1920
America Alice Christmas married Daniel J. Risley 12 Aug 1888
Charles Christmas married Virginia Leonard 2 Oct 1937
Charles Christmas married Amand Bates 9 Mar 1879
Eli W. Christmas married Lucy E. McSwane 18 Dec 1889
Jane Christmas married Amos Williams 19 March 1885
Perlina C Christmas married Robert H. Lemon 8 Oct 1879

If has been a while since we have had any list activity, and since I am
suppose to look after the list I am the most guilty for not providing any
information. Like most of you, making the correct contribution to the IRS
took some time, plus getting some home and yard work done has taken a lot
of time. It seems I am working longer and accomplishing less.
Some good news; we have four new members, Kim, Jeremy, Stan & Judy, which I
would like to introduce.
Kim descends from William Christmas & Elizabeth Jenkins; she has been nice
enough to provide us with the following family information and corrections:
I am descended from the daughter of Harrison Green Christmas Rachael and
William D. Hale thru William Sherman Hale. You list him as William T.
Hale, however he was William Sherman Hale and went be the name of Sherman.
This is supported thru family lore and his marriage certificate.
What is the source that links Harrison Green to his parents? I do not see
him listed in the will of his father.
William Sherman Hale married Rosetta Dossett August 21, 1887 in Gibson Co,
Indiana (Gibson Co Marriage records 1850-1920 book 7 p.22)
Their children
Amy Hale B. Sept 2 1888
Pearl Hale *(MALE) Sept 1891
Marshall 1893
Hobart 1898
Unknown ??
Pearl (My grandfather) Married Cora Zelia HAWES Feb 14 1916 in Peterburg,
Pike Co, IN Cora born June 1895 in Butler Co. KY Died Aug 5 1942 in
Indianapolis, IN
Jeremy is researching a SC line, George Leslie Christmas, son of John
Newton or Wesley Christmas, son of Jessie A. Christmas.
Stan is searching for information on William Christmas, his ggg uncle;
father, James T., born in Alton, Hampshire, England; married Mary Ann
Clements, and died Jan. 12, 1878, age 69, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Judy is searching for information on the following family:
I am researching my great grandmother and her family. Elizabeth Christmas
b.1821 Gressenhall Norfolk England died 31.3.1886, Brisbane Qld. Australia.
Parents Robert Christmas b. 1796 Yaxham Norkfolk - died 15.3.1865
Gressenhall Norfolk
Julia High b. c 1795 died 10.8.1862 Gressenhall Norfolk.
Other children James b. 1818, Robert b.1820 Phoebe b. 1823 William High b.
1824
Thomas b. 1826, John b. 1829 and George b. 1832 all Gressenhall, Norfolk
I have been unable to trace Robert's birth/baptism in Yaxham or his parents.
Neither have I been able to trace any information about his wife Julia High
or other
children of the marriage. Any help at all would be wonderful.
Bev recently sent the following:
John and Herbert,
I don't know if I ever gave this to you to place on the Christmas Website
Herb. From what John has just written sounds like this Christmas genealogy
is moving right along. If we all can just connect up the ones in Ireland
and England and U.S. will be great.
Tamaryn found this after I came back from my visit.
We already had William Christmas born abt. 1610 in Histon, Cambridgeshire,
England. m. Mercy Custerson March 11, 1636 in St. Edwards, Cambridgeshire,
England. William died in Landbeach, Cambridgeshire, England April, 1661.
Children: Thomas b. 1653 m. Tabitha Morgain
John b. 1637
Elizabeth b. 1639
William b.1642
Alice b. 1646
Ann b. 1649 m. John Allen
Mathew b. 1657
All born in Landbeach, Cambridgeshire.
William Christmas b. abt. 1580 poss. Histon, Cambridgeshire, England. m.
Agnes Hatfield Oct. 17, 1605. William died 1618 in Histon. Agnes died 1655
Children:
William m. Mercy Custerson
Mathew b abt. 1606
John b. abt. 1608 m. Ann Fisher Jan. 17, 1635 d. 1680 in Oakington,
Cambridgeshire
Catherine Christmas b. abt. 1612 d. 1722 in Oakington
I agree with Bev that it would be nice if we could connect some of these
and other families, this year. John & Marion are working on some additions
to the web page on their Irish/Canadian branch, so maybe this will be the
year.
Recently received information from Jereline - non list member. James Nathan
Christmas (1849-1904) and Maudie Raffield of GA, had another son, Lee Smith
Christmas, 1896-1941.
I recently got a CD-RW, actually installed it myself and it works - the
miracle of 2000, and have been amazed with the possibilities. This got me
working on a project for my children and grandchildren, which has and will
take a lot of time. I am attempting to scan and organize photos of their
ancestors, with small story about each photo; also include some family
documents.
In working on this project for my children, I tried to include the photos,
etc. in a workbook like file, using MS Word as a test; results were not
good. I then use the PAF program as a test, and it was just like looking at
your own personal web page on a CD. Using the PAF program, they could
flip/click through the information, just like we do when we visit the web
page. They seem to like that better than having a book on a CD.
Anyway, more about CD project later, but for now let's talk about sharing
some family photos on the web site. Doug and Richard have sent photos of
William Jasper Christmas, Sarah Richardson, John William Christmas & Rosa
Callis, Mary Rosalie & Walter Earl Tevault.
Tom, a non list member - will ask him to join, recently sent me some family
photos of Daniel J. Christmas (1834-1924) & wife, Martha C. Brown, of GA;
he also sent a few others which will be included in the next web update, as
will those sent by Doug & Richard.
I will be adding back the photos that I previously had on AOL, before I ran
out of space and had to remove them. The photos will be on the Rootsweb
site, as I have more web space. Except for the photos, the information will
be the same on the AOL and AT&T site.
Please consider sharing some photos of your ancestors. I have received some
of the nicest thanks, from distant cousins, for having posted some pictures
of "our" ancestors. I hate to use the postal service for sending pictures,
but if you do not have a scanner, and want to send them, I will be happy to
scan them for you and return the originals; drop me a note by private email
and I will send you my address.
There is other new information I will be sharing later, have to find it. I
have been running behind on things, so if you have asked something of me,
that I have not done, please remind me. Thanks.
Herbert
