[CHRISTMAS-L] Jenkins Connection
by Teresa & Brian McMillan
For those of us who have the Jenkins connection through Elizabeth Ford
Jenkins who married William Christmas.....
If you've not already seen this...
I was reading some copies someone sent me on another of my lines. It was
noting references to the surname Neat in Rowan Co, North Carolina.
"The will of Jessee Jinkins (book D page 15) made Dec 9 1802. Wife: Martha.
Daughters: Elizabeth Christmass & Nancy Fuller. Sons: Joel & William.
Others mentioned: Martha, Polly, Thomas, Betsey, Elinder, Jacke, Luny &
Jesse Jinkins & Jesse (the son of deceased David Mer)."
"Book 21 page 262; Feb. 20, 1808, as the heirs of deceased Jesse Jinkins (of
whom there are eight children of whom six are under age these being Jack,
Ellen, Fanny, Jesse & Bethia wife of Jacob Hainly the others being Martha
wife of Jones Fuller, Patsey wife of David Shelton, Martha the widow of said
deceased, William, Thomas & Joel) are moving to the west, let George Mumford
have the land which said deceased got of Rudy [sic] Nut"
I realize that in the last statement the # of those identified as under age
only comes to 5 instead of 6, and that the total children listed seems to be
10 instead of 8. Plus, Elizabeth Christmas is identified as a daughter in
the first reference but not in the second.
Has anyone done any research into this document? I've been quite busy
moving (from Minnesota to Alabama) so can't seem to remember whether we've
covered this ground before. As I said, just ran across it while trying to
find something for someone on another line--while taking a break from
unpacking.
