Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
The List activity has been very slow, and hopefully a "Roll Call" will help
some. We have a lot of new members since our last one, and maybe you can
connect with someone else working on your line. If you would, give your
line back as far as possible, not asking for personal information, and any
research problems you might be having, or another information you can share.
Part of the Christmas Web Page was updated yesterday, mainly the lines of
Thomas Christmas & Jonathan Christmas, as well as the Researcher's Page;
really had no information to add in the other areas, since last update.
This was done on the Rootsweb site, address is:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~research/index.htm
If time permits, please check out the updates, and let me know of any
corrections/additions needed, or anything you would like changed. After I
hear back from you, I will incorporate changes, and update the AOL, AT&T
sites, as well as the Rootsweb site in a couple weeks.
My thanks to Debbie Hayes for sharing photos of: Jonathan Prescott,
1825-1896; wife, Elizabeth Jane
Copeland, 1823-1909; daughter, Harriett Lula Prescott, abt 1859-?, and
Henry Benjamin Smith, 1828-1892. In my files, and they include only a small
percentage of the total, I show 733 descendants for Henry Benjamin Smith. I
am guessing the total descendants would be over 1000, and probably 99% of
those descendants have never seen a photo of their great----grandfather.
Now through sharing, like Debbie has done, these descendants will have an
opportunity to see, and download a copy of their great----grandfather's
photo. Hopefully, these photos will now never be lost, or become
unidentifiable.
Debbie also shared an 1891 reunion photo of the Bethany Baptist Church
members, with a stretch showing their names; unfortunately I have not been
able to upload those, but will try to do so in the next couple weeks. These
photo are in the Jonathan Christmas section.
I am still working on the CD project, and will try to get a message to
most, also in the next couple weeks.

Ginger,
Think this is the Henry Christmas that Genice is looking for; much of this
information was sent to me several years ago by Mrs. Grace Meadows Hough, a
very nice lady, who has passed away; have been updating the pages, hope
this web page address works:
http://members.aol.com/herbnet20/christmas/tc9.html
Another member of our list, Diane, also descends from this line; got a note
from her a week or two ago, saying she was very busy with work and would
try to get us some information as soon as time permits.
It is a big ASSUMPTION on my part that Thomas, father of Henry, descends
from John Christmas & Middleton Myrick; Mrs. Hough & I talked about it and
I think Diane also.
If any list member has any information on this family, please share it.
Just a comment on all the Christmas families characteristics that has been
discussed lately; twins are not in my family; red hair out, I have/had
light brown or dirty blond hair that is fast turning gray; as to musical
talents, my grandmother, Fauline Christmas Turner did play (very well) the
piano by ear, mostly church music; unfortunately, this talent did not pass
to my dad, nor me or my son; none of us could/can carry a tune in a bucket;
have hope that this is only a three generation skip and my two grandsons
will have the Christmas musical talent.

My maternal gr-grandfather was a twin. There are at least two sets of twins in
that 10-children family.

That's too bad. Have not heard anything so far from anyone out there who
claims descendancy from Leander. I have a lot of goodies (including a
death certificate & comprehensive obit) that would be very valuable to
anyone who has him as an ancestor.
In Donna Lou and her sister, Mary Jean's file it says he had the
following children:
> G. Addison Christmas born 1861 In IN
Teresa & I think the above G. Addison is actually G. Addison "Schulce"
(stepchild of Leander) & not G. Addison "Christmas". Herbert is updating
the Christmas website & adding a lot of material on Harrison G.
Christmas' family. I think he is including the reasons we arrived at
that conclusion in the update of the website. You all check it out & let
us know what your opinions are.
Thanks for the input. Gayle
Thanks for all the info on the Brittinghams! Am glad to hear from
someone who has other supporting data on this. The 1900 census record
has what looks like "Brittainhaus" for the last name. There definitely
isn't any downstrokes by the pen which would indicate a "g" anywhere in
the name. Now I know thanks to you & Joyce that it is definitely an
error by the census taker and Brittingham is the correct name.

Thanks for the response to my ?? RE: know Elwood Christmas esp to Mark
for specific info on birthdate & lineage in his response. Guess a lot of
people know him. Gayle
Fern..the WOOTENMC(a)aol.com, is my sister and that is the right E-mail
address. She isn't on the Christmas mailing list--just got her
computer the first of the year, but I forwarded your E-mail to her as
I thought she would find it of interest. Her name is Mary Jean
Christmas Wooten. You might try E-mailing her again.
Amen to Jean's statement about genealogist being the most generous
people in the world. Jean, herself is just one of those people.Three
additional people that I can include to this list are: Herbert Turner,
Jabbalot, and Dot Baker. These folks will give the shirts from their
backs to help you; I know because they have all helped me on numerous
occasions.
I'm very proud of my Christmas line but I feel slighted in the talent
heritiage part of it and no twins or red hair.
My connection to the Christmas:
Jonathan Christmas- Mary Hester Morgan
John Christmas- Nancy Smith
Aaron Christmas- Martha "Patty" Baker
Nancy Ann Christmas- Ripley Copeland Jr.
Mary Ann Copeland- Henry Benjamin Smith
William Jasper Smith- Caroline Annie Bramlett
Leona B. Smith- Ellie Kenneth Brown
Leona Madeline Brown- Rev. Ellie C. Farmer
Me- Lareda Davis
my little offsprings
God Bless all,
Charles
Hi Charles,
Nice to see you on the list again.
Don't worry about the red hair and talent. You're fine.
I've been trying to email you lately, but all email have been returned. I used
the email listed ... checked and rechecked it to make sure it was correct and
still had it returned.
I sent a package to you this week with info requested. Please email me so I
can explain it.
Sarah
Charles,
Don't feel bad about the lack of musical talent. I surely got left out in
that department. Can't carry a tune in a bucket. In the musical department,
my bucket has a gaping hole in it. I can't speak for the cousins that I don't
see but none of my siblings inherited my father's musical talent.
My father's line picked up Spanish heritage from his mother's line and my
father was a brunette. He had one red-haired sister. My great-great-
grandmother, Martha Christmas, died before my grandfather was born, and I
don't think the family members were sure where the red hair came from, but
they laid it on our BEASLEY connection. I have the complexion of a red head,
which may or may not be passed down through the Christmas line. I usually got
read heair from at least three lines: CHRISTMAS, BEASLEY, SMITH (my mother's
Smith line had a lot of red heads).
Dot
I will post my CHRISTMAS Connection. I don't think I have seen mine posted
before.

Gail,
I don't think that what was wrong with me was A-Plastic anemia. That is very
serious and usually requires bone marrow transplant. However, it does
resemble Leukemia. I think, though, that the type of anemia I have is
something less serious. Also, unless there is a name for A-Plastic that is a
real tongue twister, I can pronounce it and remember it.
