Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I hope this list will allow all of us to find answers to some of our
questions. Please drop me a private e-mail (name & address) of others you
want included on the list.
A lot of my information is on the Christmas web page, but will briefly
give you my Christmas connection. My father, Herbert C. Turner's (1914 -
1980) mother was Fauline Christmas (1891 - 1968) and married Robert
Turner. Fauline was born in Marion Co., SC and was the daughter of
William Anderson Christmas (1852 - 1930) & Arnetia Jackson (1862 - 1932),
both born & died in Marion Co., SC. William A.'s parents were William G.
Christmas (1828 - 1863) & Mary Foxworth, both born in Marion Co., SC.
William G.'s parents were Nathan Christmas (abt 1805 - 1860-70) &
Catherine ?; they were farmers, not wealthy at all; had 4 sons: William
G., previously mentioned, who died in the Civil War at Richmond in 1863;
Jariot served throughout the war and was wounded twice and hospitalized
at Richmond; Nathaniel, b. 1838, have not been able to locate; think he
was in war and joined in NC; John "Jimmie" (1844 - 1862) died in war at
Richmond. The Civil War was devastating on this family as it was on many
families.
The father of Nathan was George W. Christmas (abt. 1775 - 1840-50) in SC
& ?. Now I come to the guessing part, have found no proof, but assume he
is son of William, son of Jonathan Christmas & Hester Morton. In addition
to natural disasters, SC lost many records to courthouse burning during
the Civil War; this was part of the Sherman's plan to further disrupt the
southern people. Like most of you, I am still looking for that lost
record to give me the connection between George W. and William.
Below is some additions & corrections made to the web page since it was
put up in July, 1997.
