Chris --
Here is the information I have compiled from census records and family
records:
Andrew "Andy" Martin GRIFFIN, b. abt. 1857-59 TN,[reported to be
Cherokee descent], m. 1st, ______________, m. 2nd Martha Christionne
CHRISTMAN, b. abt. 1879 TN. Andrew had six children, three with each
wife. (Children are listed in birth order and all were born in TN.)
1. Walter GRIFFIN (lived in W. VA)
2. John GRIFFIN
3. Hugh GRIFFIN
4. Flora Mae GRIFFIN (1/8 Cherokee) b. 3/3/1903 m. 1st Horace
CLOYD, m. 2nd Mickey WARD
(1) Ed [deceased]
(2) Eleanor
(3) Harold [my husband]
(4) Thelma
(5) Elmer
(6) Marie [daughter by second marriage]
5. Eugene Alton GRIFFIN b. 3/20/1904 m. Louella Alice RINEHART
(1) Don [I forgot to ask Don if he has any siblings]
6. George GRIFFIN b. _____, m. 1st. Vi _________, m. 2nd Irma
______. [no children]
Andy and Martha and their younger children were living in Jefferson
County, TN at the time of the 1910 census. Sometime between 1910 and
1920 they moved to Byron in Ogle County, IL. Martha Christionne
CHRISTMAN GRIFFIN died there about 1917.
This has been very difficult research for me. Both of my husband's
parents were deceased by the time I met him -- his father, Horace CLOYD,
died at 28 years of age leaving Flora Mae a widow with 5 small
children. Flora Mae died at 42 of breast cancer. Very sad. And the
step-father destroyed all of the family
records when Flora Mae died.
I appreciate your offer of assistance.

For Phyllis Cloyd who is looking for Martha Christman in TN. Can you be
more specific about dates, county, and other family members? Perhaps I
can help.

Hello --
I'm here. Still looking, without success, for my Martha Christionne
CHRISTMAN. No exactly a common name, but I am at a stalemate.
Anyone else out there looking in TN for CHRISTMAN?
Phyllis in NJ
Thanks Connie! We needed that! The lists have been pretty quiet for a
while!
I might also suggest that you might want to send some of your replies to
the lists, as well, if you think the information you have might help
someone else.
