Thanks for your reply. I think he is a bit young to be "my" John but as I don't know where John was born I will keep the details in case I find a connection in the future.
Good luck with your research.

I am trying to trace John Christie, possibly born about 1800. He married Elizabeth Seaton in Truro, Cornwall in 1823. Elizabeth came from New Galloway, Scotland but I can't find any trace of John's birth. The family are not on the 1841 census and the next trace of Elizabeth is in the south east when she marries William Voss, so I presume John died in the 1840s but I can't find a death record for him. The family then moved to Warwickshire. There is a possibility the families were travellers - on John and Elizabeth's marriage record they are given as "sojouners" and according to census records Elizabeth and William Voss lived "on the common". Any help much appreciated

Hi-
I'm looking for any information about the Christie's from Guy's Hill and Great Pond, St. Ann. In particular, the ancestors of Edwin Christie, my grandfather, born Guys Hill in 1890. I believe William Edwin Christie, and his father, John Christie were his father and grandfather.
I know the information about Edwin and his descendants but I would love to be certain about his ancestors. Edwin and his father were known tanners, specializing in saddles and boots for the planters. I have storied related to Edwin and his siblings but few about his father.
Anything you know to be shared would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Audrey

I'm seeking information on the Claudius Christie Jr. who served in the British 70th Regiment of Foot from 1813 to 1822, in Canada. He was a native of County Tyrone, Ireland and his father was probably also Claudius. He settled in Canada after his military service, which he entered in Cork Town and was discharged "at Quebec." He might be the same as the one you seek. I suspect he is my g.g.g.grandfather Matthew Christie's father.

My great grandfather's name was David Christie from Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland Jamaica. My grandfather was Ainsley Christie. I want to know if all Christie's are related because I was told that there were two different sets of persons who immigrated to Jamaica.
