I am researching the ancestors of my 3xgreat grandmother, Martha Christie who was born c1826 at the Bridge of Johnston, New Wynd, Edinburgh.
I would like to know who her parents were. I have had no luck with the IGI or ScotsPeople online.
The birth place of Martha was recorded on her trial papers, but no mention of her parents.
Martha was convicted of housebreaking and sentenced to 7 years gaol on the 9th January 1839 at the Glasgow Court of Justiciary, Strathclyde, Scotland and transported to Australia as a convict on the sailing vessel 'Mary Anne' on the 16th July 1839. The 'Mary Anne' arrived in Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia on the 10th November 1839.
