I almost forgot an important detail. This Claudius, b. 1780s and the older one suspected of being his father (1762-1867) are both from County Tyrone in the north of Ireland.

My g.g.g.grandfather was Matthew Christie (abt.1807-1880). He married Isabelle Jamieson in 1830, they had 10 kids, ended up in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan area. I suspect that one Claudius Christie (likely son of another Claudius Christie), who was an innkeeper in Kingston and a ferryman on the Trent River, Ontario in the late 1820s, ended up at Montague Falls and earlier served in the British 70th Regiment of foot, mostly in Montreal and Quebec during and after the War of 1812. Anyways, I suspect he's my Matthew's father, as well as father of one Robert Christie, who also ended up near the Soo, also a 3rd Claudius, probably other children as well. Is this ringing anyone's bells?
