Hi
Were all the Christies who lived in the Bergen County New Jersey and surrounding areas in the mid 1700's descended from James Christie and Madgalena Demarest , or were there other non related Christie families living there too?
I am trying to find out where my great grandfather (x4) James Christie came from and who his parents and siblings were. He was a Loyalist who served in the 4th (later 3rd) Battalion New Jersey Volunteers under Captain Van Allen. He went to Sussex New Brunswick Canada in 1783.
He obtained land there, married , had children and died there in 1825.
I have no date or place of birth on him.
Any help will be appreciated
Thank you
Beth (Christie) Wilson
Hi all. I am looking for information on a Jean CHRISTIE. The only piece of
information I have on her is that she was married to a David CURRIER. They
had a son David who was from Leslie, Fife, and immigrated to USA in 1775.
Can anyone put a crack in this wall?
Thanks,
Julia Fountain

Hi Tony, I have Christie's in Banffshire - Inveravon to be more specific or
if you want precise "Invera'an" pronounced Inverarn. I have been to the
Church in Inveravon and think my Christies are related to the Grants of malt
whiskey fame. The names are Alexander Christie m Elizabeth Grant, sons are
Charles Christie and James Grant Christie born late 1700's. I am looking for
more information re my family. Are you able to help me? Thanks. Jan

Hi Isabel,
Do you have any further info on where in Scotland? Both surnames are quite
common in several different locations, as you no doubt know. I have both
myself. Some in Banffshire/Aberdeenshire on my Mum's paternal side and some
in Shetland in Mum's maternal line(s). If Shetland then you are in great
luck, as there is a great deal on-line for Sheltanders of the past. Tony
GOTT has a brilliant web site starting at: http://bayanne.info/Shetland/
for anyone with definate Shetland connections. Our's in the NE are
off-shoots/laterals, but the ones in Shetland are in my direct line of
ascent.
Cheerio the now,
Toni ~ Ontario
