I've "rescued" an old photograph of Oscar CHRISTIANSON which was taken at
the Reed Studio in Bemidji, MN sometime in the 1890's or early 1900's. The
photograph was taken when Oscar was about 1 year old and also indicated that
Oscar is a brother to Mel CHRISTIANSON. Based on limited research I was
able to gather the following information regarding Oscar and his family:
Oscar L. CHRISTIANSON was b. 4 Mar 1906 in Bemidji, MN and he married Ruth
Geneva BECKSTRAND (b. 3 May 1909 in Clearbrook, MN-2003) on 17 Sept 1927 in
Bemidji, MN and together they had 6 children including, Richard, Glen, Curt,
Eraine, Shirley, and Zaida all born in Bemidji and still living there at the
time of their father's death on 2 Nov 2001 in Bemidji, MN. His daughter
Eraine married Dave CROCKER; daughter Shirley married Lowell VAUGHN, and
daughter Zaida married Steve NOVAK, all of Bemidji, MN. Oscar is buried in
the Calvary Cemetery in Bemidji, MN.
Who Oscar's parents are seems a bit of a mystery since there is conflicting
information posted on various genealogy websites. One option indicates that
his parents were Ludwig Peter CHRISTIANSON (b. 27 Feb 1870 in Whitehall, WI)
and Regina SLETTEN (b. 22 Oct 1874 in Arkdale, WI). Another indicates that
his parents were Edward CHRISTENSON (b. 1857) and Augusta Mathilda TRODY
(1861-1929). Indications are that Oscar was one of 15 children including,
Rudolph; Annie; Olga J.; Agness; Gotfied; Adolph; Godfrey; Kate; Eppa;
Melvin; Anton; Carl; Lawrence; Ellen; and Oscar CHRISTIANSON.
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you
know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
