Beverly Elaine Rustan, daughter of Oscar and Laura (Hendricksen) Christianson, was born January 25, 1917 in rural Ruthven, Iowa. She attended school in Ruthven graduating from Ruthven High School in 1934.
On February 1, 1935 Beverly was united in marriage to Everett Allen Roland in Jackson, Minnesota. To this union two children were born. Everett and Beverly managed Roland's Modern Cabin and Resort on Lost Island Lake. Beverly also worked part time at Younkers Department Store when they needed seasonal help. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Beverly was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was an active member of Circle and Ladies Aid. She taught Sunday School for many years. Beverly was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star and O.N.O. Club.
After Everett's death, Beverly was married to Joseph David Rustan on May 2, 1970 in Ruthven, Iowa.
Beverly enjoyed cooking, playing golf and playing cards. She liked to watch the Food Channel and Lawrence Welk. When she was younger she was always ready to go shopping and she loved to travel to see family or to go on vacation.
Beverly died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Everett and Joseph; two sisters, Nadine Way and Lois Lee Root; a brother, Dean Christianson; and an infant grandson, Todd Donahue.
She is survived by her children, George W. Roland and his wife, Meredith of Glendale, AZ, Judith K. Donahue and her husband, Jim of The Villages, FL and Ruthven, IA; step children, Virginia Grange and her husband, Bill of Ruthven, IA and Phillip Rustan and his wife, Becky of Simi Valley, CA; four grandchildren, Patrick Roland, Sheila Grange, Nicole Lawless, and Erika Goddard; two great grandchildren, Tess and Jacob; a sister, Ruby Wipperman of Grimes, IA; a sister-in-law, Delores Christianson of Knob Noster, MO; as well as many other relatives and friends.
