My name is Donald L. Christian ,Jr. My earliest known Christian ancestor is Allen Christian who died in Madison Co Alabama in 1833 while married to Margaret. (He owned plantations in both Madison and Jackson Co Alabama and based on his estate inventories he was quite affluent) I know he was in Madison Co as early as 1809 as he appears on the 1809 census and records indicate he served as a Grand Juror Madison Co Mississippi Territory in 1809.
My line (for me) has always ended there as I could never make any connection behind Allen d.1833. My instincts are that my Christians came from E Tennessee / Western Virginia and are connected back to the early Va Christians... (this is based on the typical migration patterns of the early settlers of Madison Co Alabama)
I hope to remedy that soon. I have submitted a sample to FTDNA for a 111 marker Y DNA test ... the results should be back in March so please stay tuned to this post.
I hope that I will show matches to other paternal Christian family members with known early lines... and am happy to communicate with anyone interested in Alabama Christian family members.... I know of at least three other Christian lines in Alabama... one in Tuscaloosa Co, one in Wilcox Co and one in Walker Co (later in time).... Madison Co is one of the very northern counties that borders Tennessee while the others Tuscaloosa/Wilcox are quite far South in the state and generally had different migration patterns...
my contact information is Donald Christian lawdlc AT gmail DOT com
